Re: The vent thread
4 years of utter joy.. Great, that will most likely end up being 5 cause I want 2 masters (at the very least).
And well, the last bit of information that they needed was verified on the 23rd of last month, I know, not very long ago. Took a week to verify too, and I was forced to cut through red tape cause, guess what, I switched schools and something went awry somewhere so the program through which we register for uni here said I didn't go to my 2nd school. Great.
And well, I'm not going to study something (law) where they have stated that there are not a limited number of applicants who will be admitted (due to the faculty being rather big, unlike dentistry which just admits 145 persons a year).
And as you said, it really should not take this long. Just fucking accept me already, send me the list of books I need to acquire and I will fucking get them before the week's over. At least if commercial institutions sell those books as well (which I think they do).

Is the reading list (in general) not online somewhere already? Probably for the previous academic year, but you'd get an overview of books as I guess the modules haven't change dramatically.
Part of the way modules and courses are registered in most UK universities means they have to publish the reading list to get approved by senate. No idea how it works there, but many European institutions run in similar ways. So it could be there. Or just poke the actual School/Faculty/Year Tutor direct and request it.

Re: The vent thread
Well, I can see the courses students had to follow last year and the required literature with each course. I can hardly believe that the literature which they talk about over there is all of it. It's just less than what I expected. Another interesting thing is that I can view the courses for studies belonging to other faculties for 2011-2012. I can't see the courses for my own study for that time period though, which makes me wonder why.
And yeah, I've called with the faculty who directed me to a website which didn't really have much to say about the books I need. I think my best bet is to look at the required literature for last year's modules or hope that I can take a look at mine soon enough.

*eyes* atleast it isn't one of those 6 year masters then.
And maybe last years reading list is somewhere, atleast around here people buy 2nd hand books for their semesters, so old editions normaly work just as well as new ones.

Bachelor takes three years, then every master takes a single year as far as I know. When you have both a bachelor and a master you can become a lawyer, sort of. I say sort of because you then have 3 years of education demanded (and given) by the Dutch order of lawyers and whatever in-house education your firm wants you to follow. You also get a patron to work under/to guide you. After those three years you can call yourself a true lawyer.
And yeah, they normally do but I'm suspicious because of the fact that I can't look up my study but I can look up other studies. My instinct tells me that they're changing that page and will only show it once it's done.

The first three years after getting your last master and starting as a lawyer are indeed best described as an internship. Actually, now I think of it the official job description is "Advocaat-stagiair" which roughly translates to "Lawyer-intern". I think the translation sounds like shit to be honest. It's paid and everything, around 30k a year at the lowest with quite an increase when you compare your first year to your third year, salary-wise.
Internship is on the job training, after all, and that's what this is best described as (with, well, classes on the side).

That truly sucks. My place however is not guaranteed, just as good as guaranteed. If there aren't enough spots they'll probably begin a lottery, but that is very doubtful as it has not happened before (afaik)

@%"?!%*! ... For the past week, I've been going every single day to the stupid Austrian embassay to get some a stupid Schengen visa, and every time I go, they ask for something new!!! Today, they say I need a letter from my brother inviting us over. Wth? Yesterday, it was my brother's visa who's already in Europe anyways. Wth? And the day before, they asked me to photocopy the first page of my passport which is basically ... BLANK.

On a more serious note, that sounds like some typical administrative crap Good luck with it man.
Re: The vent thread
Haha funny JP, very funny! :p And thanks, I'm going again tomorrow and hopefully they'll take my papers. If they don't then I'm screwed!!! I won't have the visa in time and then I don't think I can delay the flights.

Yay, I got the list of books and acknowledgement of my existence. It stops there though, I haven't gotten acknowledgement of me being accepted.. Speaking of which.
They're sending me a form to fill out for that. It is, according to them, the only thing keeping me from being accepted right now. What's the bad thing about that, you ask? They're sending it while I'm in fucking France! I don't get back until THREE days before the introduction day organized by my faculty. Jesus, I hate this shit.

Been taking some in my mind pretty impressive scalps ingame lately, such as the Frostwolf Perfection achievement and 25 Exalted reps (giving us the "Ambassadors" Guild Achievement, to boot). Problem is... Whenever I've gotten these achievements, no one has been online to fucking notice! xD I feel like such an unsung hero... LOL

I share your pain... I generally to my epic OOC's when no one's on...
In other news... I got mauled by a small dog. >.> I myself blame the Great Dane who had it by the throat and almost succeeded in dragging it away, but the little thing was so terrified, she clamped down on my hand so she could grip onto something. Her neck was a mess after, but she's fine otherwise. Then I nearly passed out on the way back to the farm house for first aid. XD Good times.
Great Dane vs miniature Jack Russel Terrier. A bad combo.

I hate people who can't fucking understand 'Minimum Safety Distance' while playing Airsoft. I mean, shooting someone at close range with a 0.38g bullet that goes about 160 m/s. People like that should run around with a fucking spoon instead.
