What made you start playing WoW?

I'll have to thank my brother for that. I watched, I tried, and I liked it.

Played Warcraft 3 and TFT to death and wanted moooaaar. ._.

Have two "rl friends" that played for a year or two already, they kept poking me. When I was almost done with the army, I wanted a new time-filler, to stop going out. Been playing pc games since I was 6, so.. Tried it out, met people, liked it. *shrug*

First time: Heard from a friend and upgraded from GW for a while.

Break: I didn't get the game.

Second time: TBC came out, in my noob ways (didn't start learning about stats and the like untill Wotlk) I had a holy paladin in ret gear >.> Imagine my surprise when i got prot spec and matching gear.

Break: No community on that server.

Third time: Started playing agagin for Wotlk, wanted to try a dk

Break: Just pve and pvp bored me.

Fourth time: Saw an article about MyRP (addon) in a swedish game magazine and got curious about WoW rp, then i started playing (somewhere mid august last year). Oddly enough RP has made me stick with a single char and in a single guild longer than before

Two friends played WoW and I spent a long while ridiculing it all because of some immature opinions about the monthly fee.
Then they convinced me and few others get the trial, then try a private server. Neither really caught me on so I forgot the game for the time.

Then later I was planning on buying my own PC and the issue rose, one friend then loaned WC3 and TFT for me and I got hooked on lore. He said "There are RP realms in WoW too, I have a character on one called Defias Brotherhood."
Then I decided to get the game, but couldn't decide between a priest and a warlock -> rolled Thenkar here and some unimportant lock on Twisting Nether.
... I think I never got that lock above level ten.
But yah, I've been stuck on Defias ever since, even when it came into light that the friend didn't really RP himself. xD

I'd never ever heard of a mmo, like ever. I wasn't even a PC player, I was a console player. Then one of my friends at school was like "Have you heard of WoW?" and I told him no. So then he showed me trailers for it, and I thought it looked awesome. Gave it a go and was horribly confused for the first long, long while, but then another RL friend of mine gave it a go as well and we levelled to 30 on some PvE server (with grey weapons ) before we moved to Earthern Ring to RP. Did that for a bit, then DB was announced. I went to DB on the start of the server and never looked back.

I didn't get dragged into it by a boyfriend, now I feel all out of place xD

Luckily he sucked at it and was raging 24/7 about a class being utter shit, no matter on which of his characters he was playing on (he had a 60 of every single class back then). We broke up, I took a 6 months break and came back after, he never did, at least not on Defias (thank god for that).

I was.. in some [Random Shooter] clan for a short time, I believe. One day the lead started babbling about wanting to branch out to WoW, and asked if any of the clan members would be interested. Followed the links he posted, watched trailers and then opted to give it a go.
He decided the branch would be Alliance, based on Darksorrow. I think I mannaged to stick around with them for 2 to 3 weeks before I went my own nooby way and first started a guild, then joined some dutch group. That guild crashed, and at roughly the same time Defias Brotherhood went live; so, the officers and I decided we'd swap over and give RP a go.

I've been here ever since.

A trend that I find makes it all the more funny when said boyfriends throw shit-fits when their girlfriends are hit on, objectified, or otherwise subjected to behaviour typical of anonymous males on the internet. I mean really, how does that keep surprising them?

My story starts in 2005 back before Defias came up. Not sure how many knows Zodiarc in-game who is a real life friend of mines but it was basically him that got me into it as he kept raving about it when we'd walk home or whatever and was all "You have to try it". I eventually did get to play it but had to sign up under my mothers name due to age restrictions. Man that was so long ago.

Started on The Maelstrom where Zodiarc was and Burn/Tylone aswell and then I heard about Defias and Venture Co starting up and how Burn was going to go there and I thought "Cool. New server, time to start something new". I had no intention to RP or such and I am glad Defias was the one his friends picked now. Though I did go away for a month to america during the first few days of DB, came back and went to the maelstrom for a few weeks before I went back to DB and 4-5 years later here I am.

How I got dragged into WoW?
My brother had a beta key for the closed beta. I tried it as well various of times on his account. He gave it to me, as i really enjoyed RPG's Like neverwinter nights and whatnot. I've always been a fan of customizing and leveling my own Characters. Even collecting useless crap as I did in Morrowind, Baldur's gate and whatnot RPG I played.

Then when open beta came i Got my own account and got various friends trying it out aswell. We leveled as alliance at the time for those two weeks.
Then when live hit we all bought the game and we started on Bladefist i Believe, Then Sylvannas got up and we started over there where i raided hardcore for various years in vanilla with my RL friends in one of the best horde guilds at the time. Where some of my alts still are.
Then I got bored of it all, and decided to try out RP. And well, here I am.
