Interest check

I've been thinking for a while about a forum-based play-by-post roleplaying game taking place in Azeroth, with me as gm/dm/storyteller/whatever. A less epic version of Azeroth however. An Azeroth where distances are vast, nature overwhelming, diseases lethal and where roads turn to mud during poor weather. An Azeroth where violence is dangerous, magic is a lot less every-day and where the winter is harsh and long.

This is not to say that the magnificent hovering citadels of Dalaran and Quel'Thalas or the technology of gnomes and goblins won't exist. They will. But gnomish technology will be unreliable, rare and needs to be kept fueled (which is why it won't show up in the wilderness) and the hovering citadels demands immense magical foci to function.

The adventures themselves will as mentioned be less epic in scope (but what you achieve might be more epic to you due to the fact that it will be very difficult). It might not be save the world, but perhaps save your friends or save yourselves?

What I know wonder is. Is there any interest for this. Would some of you be interested in playing such a game? If so, what would you like to play as, horde or alliance (I'm better at alliance lore as a whole though. Just so you know)

Given that the difference between wow ingame and the azeroth I'll be portraying. It might be a bit difficult to adapt. Not only due to vast differences in skill, equipment and such. Not to mention lethality.
Some characters will also be very misplaced: if the adventure is about saving a fellow villager, having General Angelos, judge Tomebinder and Senator-Marshall Irondawn in the party might be a bit... odd.

That said. If those of you who are interested want to play your in-game characters. Then I'll solve that. Just consider that what you can do in-game will not neccesarily carry over.

In principe: I post a situation. You post your characters reaction and action. I describe the result and how the situation changes. You respond to that. Rince and repeat. As long as both you and I keep a pace that we like, it should work in theory

I was thinking to try to have a very rules light system where wits and imagination is more important than stats. The few dicerolls needed will be handled by me in secret.

Draenei will definantely be in. But that does not mean you'll meet one, or you know... have heard of them. But if you do meet them, I'll try to make their existance as interesting as possible though.

I can however guarantee there won't be goldshire/cathedral square draenei.

Yes and no. It will be similar to them. But they are primarily freeform (ie. no gm) and this will be one with a gm (me). So where you'll play your own character. I'll play every trader, soldier, monster, tree, house and law of physics you'll ever encounter.

Question, Alliance or Horde? or will the game be open enough for a cross-faction party (with the proper justification)?

I'd be interested but most likely will completely lose track of it due to multiple interests and limited time and attentionspan, so... Have fun ^^

More or less up to you. I am better at alliance lore (particulary that which we have added ourselves on this server, which I plan to reference often) but I could gm a game of hordies. As for cross-faction party: Yes, that is perfectly acceptable with the proper justification.

Definitely interested in trying this out.

More or less yes. You'll be allowed to assign a few skills which you are trained in/good at/interested in and choose a pair of traits. That's about it.
