[H] Tournament

Edit: It has been made into a recurring event, tell me either here, in a PM or ingame if you are interested in taking part.

Today a tournament between groups of two took place at the arena in Blade's Edge.
The majority of the participants came from the Shatterskull Marauders, but a couple of Elves also took part.
The prize that they fought for was 1000 gold coins to each member of the winning team and the title of Conqueror.

In the future there will likely be more tournaments of the sort, although the next one probably won't be in a while (Couple of months perhaps?). Voice your interest here if you want to participate, through a PM or to me ingame and I'll add you to a list for future use.
Whether the next tournament will be 2v2 or 3v3 will be decided by how many there are that participate.

Rules:

-No tanking specs allowed
-Max 1 healer per team
-Regular arena rules apply (No Blood Lust (And the similar), no food buff/flasks/pots, etc.)
-You can only recieve buffs from yourself or other members of your team
-If you've any complaints then voice them after a fight is over, not during combat
-Teaming up with people from outside your guild is allowed
-You may change your spec and choice of talents between battles

Once over the participants may enjoy the privilege of getting to do rematches and testing themselves up against others of their own choice. This is however not as a part of the tournament itself.

A shame we orcses couldn't be there due to a bit of a miscalculation on the planning (not to mention we're, sorta, in exile). But next time, we'll be sure to be there!

I believe it's not a guess when the outcome is known.
(If it is a guess, considering the top 50 ranking for 2vs2 showing only one warlock, that is a very lucky guess)
And I do not believe the setup was the reason we won, but rather having a very capable healer and a gear advantage.

That being said, all participants put up a good fight, and I regret the Orcs of the Red Blade not being present, and being unable to bring more people myself! I greatly enjoyed the mix of PVP and roleplay, and am looking forward to the next event!

It was a guess because I didn't bother to look at the scoreboard and even if I had your names would've not been ones I could relate to so eh.

And in 2v2 the setup is everything so yes, lock healer woot :p

Because Lock is the only class that was OP at the start of MOP who hasn't been nerfed yet and lock/healer is the comp that has the lowest skill req while still being ridiculously strong as a setup. Nobody plays it because 2s with a warlock is boring as shit :p

Anyways, I'll quit derailing.

I wasn't fussing, at all. I'm not slandering anybody for playing lock/healer as it's no where near the dumbest setup. It's a solid comp and is not particularly retarded (like Blood/Blood in Cata for example) and beating the warrior teams I have no doubt were there is tough for a warlock so props on Solanum for outplaying those guys. The 2 line paragraph about the setup is only to explain to Solanum why I guessed for that comp despite it being underrepresented on the ladder.

Grats on the victory! I wasn't looking to discredit it in any way.

It came down to gear advantages (or disadvantages!) and the fact many teams were made moments before the event through IC communication rather than OOC. Hard to make a solid team then!


But it was great fun anyway, hoping for a bigger turn out next time!

Well, it could just be said that they were sent to fight for their lives by someone high ranked, after all the Horde itself does take prisoners even if we specifically don't. If people want to participate I don't want to deny them that, there's usually a way to do everything. Still, it would be preferable if people were able to join in on Horde characters instead as it might make things unnecessarily messy to have to deal with crossfaction stuff.

I think it's doable, provide it's kept low-key on location.

Indeed. I would highly prefer to keep it Horde only. You can of course put up something similar yourself for the Alliance side.
