[A] The Blood Hammer

Greetings.

The Blood Hammer is a new RP-PvP guild, focusing on event-based roleplay and World PvP. It's being launched as a kind of RP-branch for Bloodwind(PvP guild), but without any sort of PvP requirements or IC connection between the guilds. We've been planning this project for some weeks now and we're starting off with around 10 active, experienced roleplayers, but we're looking for more members to help build the vast order we hope to become.

So what's the guild about?

In a nutshell, The Blood Hammer is going to be Alliance-based religious order. The reason I say "going to be" is because the initial members are still freezing their behinds off in some Scarlet Onslaught camp, homesick and plagued about the decline of the crusade. Our first guild event will be this weekend, and we'll steadily roleplay our way over to the Eastern Kingdoms as we break out from the Scarlet Onslaught and form The Blood Hammer. The initial 'fellowship' is a band of hardened soldiers and in some cases longtime friends or family, with some also having served in the Crimson Legion.

How will you differ from the Scarlet Onslaught?

Obviously (and intentionally!) there's going to be some similarities. I suppose the main difference is that The Blood Hammer will seek favour within the Alliance and follow the laws of King Wrynn, and that we're not quite as hardcore zealous.

It's true! We also won't limit the guild to humans, we want dwarves and possibly some draenei/gnomes if they fit. We won't be killing random peasants cause they might be undead either, unless we're very sure.

What are your plans regarding World PvP?

We'll see where the RP takes us, form some alliances, make some enemies. We'll gladly join anything that fits our IC cause, namely killing fiends of the hordish nature. We'll also definitely aim to host another campaign after patch 4.3, like the one we did with Bloodwind/House Helmsley back in Wrath. We already have some neat plans regarding that, but as said, we'll see where the RP takes us.

What about your IC structure? Would my character fit in?! I DON'T EVEN...

Once the order takes grows and takes form, so will the structure. It's going to similar to the Scarlet Crusade, with religious/military branches, but there will be a place for many different types of characters. We want everything from hardened veterans to seasoned chambermaids. Roleplaying a chambermaid is not fun at all you say? Oh we beg to differ.

The truth is, we don't want to reveal too many IC details. We want things to unfurl in-game, and we have a lot planned, but little is set in stone. However, we think with the things we have in mind that we'll be a fitting contrast to the other religious orders on the server.

And recruitment/requirements?

We want friendly people who are interested in creating good RP, for themselves and for those around them. We won't say "no newcomers please", but we expect a certain standard from our members, so experience would be required in most cases.

It's also not too late to get in on our first event and be in the founding crew either, if that sounds interesting, but there would be some additional requirements.

Hehe, thanks for offering, but I think our crew would really avoid any sort of death knight interaction for now! Not to mention that we'll be in Northrend for a bit and probably make our way to the Fjord and take the ship. But hey, we'll run into each other at some point!

Going well thus far, we've had a fair few interesting encounters. Still a wee bit short on members though, surely there's a horde hating fanatic living in some of you!

This advice may sound horribly negative but hopefully, given the context, you'll recognise it's pertinance.

I really don't think this is a very good place to try and attract new members.

Most people here already have guilds for a start, so any members you potentially attract will either be alts or new mains - rather cunningly stealing members from another guild, Huzzah! (Note I think this sort of backstabbery and OOC competition is excellent behaviour and will encourage better leadership from everyone.)

On to the actual advice, recruitment in game is the way to go. Grab the players new to the realm before they're snatched up by someone else, inspire them, most importantly grab them before they pick up any less than preferable RP habits from anyone else - the dreaded "/e 'would' do something" is one of my personal peeves.

If you can recruit IC, when the Seal first formed we sent Cato and Penrith to Northshire for about a week of constant IC recruitment. Up until we quit the game we preferred to recruit IC because it really does work.

I'm not advocating anyone closes their recruitment thread, I think these are a great resource for players new to a guild or outsiders who want a point of reference. But taking the recruitment in game is something to think about! Growth doesn't occur by itself - it takes blood, sweat, and plenty of tears.

My warrior despairs of you lot. XD Always whining that everyone hates you, but you never shut your mouths long enough for anyone to change their mind! And my warrior's dumb, she gives everyone a chance!
