First Memorable IC Event

With the Anniversary War fast approaching, how about a little reminiscence? The title sums it up: what was your first memorable IC encounter on Defias? Did it shape your character in a lasting way, or really affect your decision to make Defias your permanent home? Do you still RP with the other people involved?

For me, I came to this server from Scarshield Legion around the time of the first Anniversary War, and my first memorable RP encounter took place in the midst of a lull in a rather epic battle in Ashenvale with Shari and some other Sentinels in Auberdine. My young and innocent little mage was scorned by those haughty Night Elves, but they didn't seem to be in a position to complain about my use of the arcane when the Orcs of the Red Blade came rampaging through through the town!

Following the battle, Saphia had set her naive heart on earning the respect of the Night Elves and attempting to make them see that controlled use of arcane magic was really a boon, but I guess you could say that never really came to fruition (Cata will fix it? )! OOC'ly, the mix of RP and WPvP was far more enjoyable than what I had experienced over on SSL and it definitely influenced my decision to play on solely Defias.

Oddly, the thing I remember most strongly about the whole event was being killed by an OotRB when trying to res, then someone whispering to say that the offender was sorry and didn't mean to res-kill me; that certainly wouldn't have happened on Scarshield!

Shari and her Sentinels might no longer be around, but if I ever rolled a Horde toon (heresy!), I'd still want to be an OotRB!

Not really an IC 'event' per se, but I clearly recall questing through Teldrassil with Sana on day one of the server and seeing members from The Starseeker Sentinels along the road approaching people ICly and trying to recruit them. That really gave me the impression of; "Wow, these people do take it seriously." (In a good way, obviously)

Kind of hung around ever since.

Back in "Ye Olden Days" when dinosaurs roamed the server, Goldshire RP was fine, Stormwind and Darnassus were both equally valid for random RP, and people weren't putting themselves in self-proclaimed positions of power, there was a level 16 human rogue running around the Elwynn-Stormwind-Westfall area trying to get into the spirit of RP, and what it was all about.

One night in the small township of Goldshire he stumbled across a bear having found its way to the top floor of the inn and tried to see it off with his stubby, rusty rifle, only to subsequently learn about Druids, and their possible applications.

Ultimately it was the first (of many) times Merandil had a brief romantic stint with a Night Elven woman, and probably the first time I ever considered anything of the like in RP. It was a simple premise, but fun and inventive to me as an inexperienced writer, and gave the characters a bit of depth.

Sadly she disappeared about a week or two later when we tried crossing the Wetlands together by walking (both kind of low level for the zone), my game crashed, and she was logged out by the time I got back. Can't recall seeing her online since.

I made my Starseeker Nerisja as a sort of alt since I was still on ER and RPing there - but the whole first day of DB with LOTS of random RP and guild meeting and shit made me rethink.

I think the event that made me go "Okay, screw ER I'm staying here" was once the Starseekers were in Ashenvale waiting for some Orcs - we all shadowmelded on the beach and when the orcs were close enough we jumped outta stealth and pwned their asses :')

I can't remember.

Probably my first drill practice in the Theramore Navy, with Gunnell ineffectively trying to turn us into proper marines, and my first emote-fight, us marines vs Gideon and Ath, with them eventually working me over

My first big event has been the Duskwood one; I didn't partecipate much, because I was rather new, but I really enjoyed the ambience and the efforts put by the several guilds in it.

My old guild from Argent Dawn made an alt-guild on DB on the very first day - Holier Than Thou.
All human, all paladin, more zealous than have ever been seen since!

On that very first day, while subjecting the mine just south of Goldshire to some Righteous Cleansing, we apprehended a certain warlock whom we witnessed using Fel Magicks!
A certain dwarf priest persuaded us to release her in his custody though /shakefist

As I recall, the earliest one I remember was when Shining Strand marched from Menethil to Lordaeron. It was a short time after the server launched, hm.. about a week or so I think?

Ohh I remember..

I was new to wow and my brothers had recommended this server. So i created Nassulra 1.0 and started leveling him, when i reached about level 20 i thought it was time for me to find a guild. Again my brother pointed me in the direction of The Old Lordaeron, thus i made my application and was ready for an interview that same evening.

Nassulra the lowly priest was standing at the zepplin, the skies were dark and the sun had dissapeared.. In the distance walked a cloaked figure, his face was covered by his hood. The only reason i was able to see him at all in that darkness was the latern shinning in his hand. He walked up to me and said something in the lines of "Mr Othlar i presume, my name is Timrashal." We proceeded to Gallows End where he interviewed me for the old Lordaeron and i got in.

That faithful night made me know i'd keep playing undead. The mood was abosultely perfect for me, oh and i remember how amazed i was at the lantern (Can't blame me i was new!) just gave an extra effect.

I've had my moments before DB, but that wouldn't be fun anyway, since it was AD (which makes me go "BLARGH" nowadays). As for memorable IC moments, I'd have to say that the first one was an SGE-organized raid on Astranaar on the very first or second day. From the bridge on the river in the middle of Ashenvale all the way to the Mor'shan Ramparts, there was a whole line of low-level hordies running along the road. Regardless of numbers though, we still got our asses kicked. ;_;

No one was high enough level to tank the sentinels.

Girls' Night Out

Hmm... the first memorable event I recall was the Lakeshire meeting of the Shining Strand. The whole guild was there... all 180-ish of us... We covered every inch of the bridge.

The second one was when the Dark Arcanists of TSS was cornered in the Ironforge library by the Thelsamar thunderer's. Starting the TSS witchhunt.

Hahaha I remember that night very well! (Melfeena). Earliest event I remember though has to be uhm....Err I don't know. Probably on my Night elf hunter before I ever made the warlock bumping into Trezo and Gwealyn and being a total RP nub.

I remember the war of the north campaign though, fun times. And I remember some night outs ontop of the stormwind gate walls with myself, aislin, gahalla, another few and Alyssea and how she sent an infernal on Melfeena for some reason I forgot.

Pfff I just arrived on Defias Brotherhood last year...in december so well... I've everything to build.
It's amazing how was the start of role play server in Vanilla. I really have nice memories about low lvl role play guild.


I've been on Les Sentinelles, Kirin Tor, Conseil des Ombres, then Scarshield Legion and Sporeggar, before a long RP break on The Maeltrom which allowed me to meet my twinsoul !! :p

I've started on Defias Brotherhood, role playing almost exclusively in my guild Whitestar. My first big event was the Tournament we organised this winter.

Most memorable first event when this belf got trialed for possible treason, and now look where he is now ^^.

The signing of the guild charter of The Shining Strand on day 1. Was probably my first touch with RP in this game.

For me, the first big event I remember was on my warlock Nastor after he just joined the Sphere, and although I cant remember the details, it entailed infiltrating into Stormwind one night, the council I think, and involved corrupting Exaythe or something, as she went all wacky and crazy. Then all the disciples and other lighties showed up and after a showdown of some sorts we retreated by the use of summonings.

I remember it particularly as I was the last to get a summon ( forgotten xD ) and was backed into the corner of the chamber, surrounded by enemies. Aarian stepped forth and was like "You have nowhere to run, we have you now". At this point my brain was scrambling for an epic response as my summon finally popped up but I replied with something utterly noobish

Ah, first IC happening I can clearly remember was back in TBC (Oi! It was new for me!), I was still green and stumbled on my friends bankalt, when I was trying to look for RP company. I had one hallowed wand in store, used it and had a chase. Then Cerrania (nowadays Antistia) joined, first to defend my victim, then (with proper persuation) to help me catch him.
It was just a li'l random event, I think some paladin was there too.
But it was all uphill from there on!

Was on Zabatou, the first TSS event on the second day or so, I think, with the hundred random people at the bridge at Lakeshire. They've yet to fix the bridge up, still

And haha, Gwealyn in Aislin's pics! With a bunch of other oldies, ofc.

Wasn't Holier Than Thou removed by Blizzard because the name would be insulting towards others? ;D

Yeah, the guild had a collective depression over the utter boredom of paladin gameplay
Most went back to AD. I made a nelf and joined the Starseeker Sents instead ^^

Nope, it never got changed. We had a rather huge debate on the guildname, as the IC name for the guild was Zealous Enforcers of Righteous Guidiance, which was far too long and the apprivation was certainly going to be changed (ZERG).
So we chose Holier Than Thou to convey the feeling that people would get when facing us. I didn't agree with the name or reasoning, but eh ^^
