In Character Overview

The Old Town Consortium is a new mercantile guild which has recently been formed in Stormwind City.  Though primarily based there, they of course have contacts and do business across all of the Eastern Kingdoms and beyond.  But their roots and main focus is on the Old Town of Stormwind where the Consortium has its headquarters.

The Consortium is open to any prospective businessmen, traders and seafarers.  The goal of the Consortium is to become the most dominant mercantile force in the city and beyond.  It aims to make contacts and friends across all of Azeroth and set up lucrative deals and contracts all over.

The Consortium has its roots in the honest, hard-working lower classes of the cities and surrounds.  They employ local farmers to produce the goods which are shipped globally.  They provide opportunities for the common man to make an honest living through hard work and diligence.  They encourage and enable the "little man" to go up against and compete with the big corporations through cooperation and deals with other like-minded people and families.

Comprising sailors, traders, scribes and lawyers, security guards, shop keepers, tinkers, tradesmen and craftsmen, the Old Town Consortium is a small but growing organization.  By working together the members of this Consortium hope to gain improved trading agreements, better prices, cooperation and protection.  By joining the Consortium a prospective business can expect to gain protection from the unsavoury elements in the city, like the increasingly active [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] crime syndicate which has recently grown up in Stormwind.  Additionally members can expect to open up trade options with the far flung corners of Azeroth as the Consortium expands and extends its influence.

Finally the Consortium is prepared to finance and organize expeditions into the more dangerous parts of Azeroth, seeking out rarer items and goods for return to civilization.  Whether these items and artifacts be destined for a private collectors vault or for sale in the local auction house, the Consortium will help - able to facilitate legal cover and security details to aid such ventures.

Out of Character Notes

The Old Town Consortium is in fact just a face for the notorious House of Cards crime syndicate.  Giving the syndicate some legitimacy and reason to gather together and to scope out businesses and prospective marks.  Of course, legitimate business is also a prime way to make money, so the House of Cards benefits from the legal work the face organization does too.  Not surprisingly the members of the Old Town Consortium are not above illegal trade deals, smuggling and the like - meaning in places the business of the Consortium and the House blur into one.  As both are essentially the same organization that is not an issue of course.
