Current RP hubs
Just a general post for discussion after some slow evenings flying around Stormwind and other busy places.
I've noticed there are several locations people tend to frequent for RP, and there is still lots going on around the server, it just feels very spread out again. A short while ago certain taverns were the hotspots for walk up RP, now I'm not sure if I've just missed somewhere but it seems the server is lacking such a place again at current.
So my question and point for discussion, is there somewhere being used as a mutual meeting place for RP? And if not should we pick a location to frequent to reach out from guild and event based RP? This is something that crops up time to time and I just felt it worth bringing up, though I'm well aware come Legion release many people will IC be at the Broken Isles, but even so there will be groups who remain behind and having a chosen tavern/location again to frequent will provide a strong base of RP for those that remain in the cities.
I'm well aware I can go out and find RP, or create RP in a set place, but that is not the purpose of the thread, it's not a whine or a moan about activity and hubs, just having a hub is a positive thing, and also good to point newer RPers towards and to help keeping people in the loop of server happenings outside of things such as the Council.
I look forward to seeing some input and responses.

Re: Current RP hubs
While I do not know about the current hubs on Alliance, the hub on Horde remain Wayfarer's Rest. Some people have started using Rachet aswell, since it allows a more mixed lot of people.
As for "in the future" for the Alliance, I am going to encourage as many RPers as possible to start using Dalaran as a Roleplaying hub. Yes, that Dalaran in Broken Shores.
Why?
1.) To show normal players who play the game that roleplaying exists.
2.) It makes sense from an IC perspective, if your interests are to fight vs. Legion.
3.) It's a cool city, with Alliance & Horde & Neutral taverns + Portals to many places.
Also, as far as I am aware, we are going to be given a "Dalaran Heartstone", much like the Garrison one. If you thus bind your normal one to Northrend Dalaran, one can use the Northrend Dalaran for when it gets to crowded at some point in the Broken Isles Dalaran.
Due to the massive amount of people, phasing may be an issue in Dalaran, but asking for raid invites for a RP Raid Group in LFRP is one solution to that.

Re: Current RP hubs
I know there are some places on Alliance that see some activity, that's why I thought we could pool that together into one location if its only tavern chatter and random happenings.
Dalaran could be good, though I can personally foresee a lot of interruption possibly outweighing the benefits of high visibility of role players. But I can wait and see and make up my own mind. It will definitely be worth giving a go either way, and as you stated it will make the most IC sense. And yeah phasing can be overcome with raid groups.
I think for example it can be as simple as choosing one tavern again to hang out at during peoples down time, there is definitely still a lot going on in the RP world, and I think it would be good to put that in one place where socialising/tavern going/staying in the loop of things is concerned.
I'll await replies from people who have been perhaps more active than me around Stormwind and see if there's basically just somewhere I've missed.

Re: Current RP hubs
Hmmm well...
I'm an RP newbie. My guild -which is lovely and I won't leave it for the sake of more RP- is only doing RP occasionally.
From this point of view I'd like to really cheer for the idea of an RP hub, and I'd be sure to visit it frequently. The idea of doing this in Dalaran sounds appealing to me too, but I also think a 'back-up' would be needed perhaps; Dalaran will be really crowded and I can imagine that there would be times where that would not work out optimally.
Cheers,
Des

I already suggested Northrend Dalaran as backup. It's almost identical, after all.

Re: Current RP hubs
Funnily enough I was going to post something like this today. I agree with Dalaran being a good place to try and focus on for an RP hub - at least for those of us who are going to go to the Isles in character.
I don't know Dalaran but is there an obvious tavern we could all focus on as an RP community? Especially if it was Horde and Alliance neutral and both could go there. There aren't many opportunities to RP across faction and that would surely be good.

Goblin towns like Booty Bay, Gadgetzan, Everlook, Ratchet are somewhat viable options. Some are under invasion half the time currently tho. Dalaran does make the most sense, however and being able to use the Northrend variant when it's a bit hard to work with the Legion version is a good idea, too.

Re: Current RP hubs
Dalaran seems to be in favour mainly, given location and accessibility.
I'll also ask if anyone is aware of the intentions of Council/Senate style events when Legion releases? I ask as when Warlords came out I wasn't very involved with the larger community and I don't know what the usual plan is.
As for RP around Stormwind for those alts and lower levels not IC on the broken isles I may just pick a tavern and lurk around in the evenings and give people a shout in LFRP.

The Recluse used to be "the place" to hang out but recently it's died a death. Centax declared that the HoY now owned the Pig but I've not really seen that place take off either.
Personally I favour the Golden Keg as it's Fen's home. But I doubt that will ever become a hub...

Yeah I'm aware of what has been the go to place, but as you said they didn't really take off recently, so just picking somewhere again and hanging out there will be all it takes, it's just making somewhere mutual, no players in charge or anything (we have laws for the rules already, it can be daunting for new players if rules differ everywhere), just a level playing field so anyone can turn up for any reason.

Go on then - seeing as you started this thread, you pick a place and we'll all go there.

More than happy to. Just felt it also worth some discussion and to see if people even wanted somewhere to go like this.
I'll give people a shout in LFRP and most certainly see people in game. I'm also looking to put some time into a community gathering/event chain if/when I can, most likely something akin to the style of [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I used to run, and perhaps starting with a frequent consistent gathering can be the first step to doing so if the interest is there.

Re: Current RP hubs
One event which really helped this and which appears to have dropped off is the Weekly Random RP Spot. I appreciate it is not easy to organize and there was no overall organizer, but it was always well attended I felt.

Just read this thread. Looks awesome - if you can resurrect something like this that would be great.

Perhaps if you have the time you could start off the weekly random RP spot again? I always used to attend when possible and having weekly rp spots could always provide more ideas for more rp hubs.

If HoY are trying to run the Pig and Whistle tavern, then I think that would be a good place to try and get some activity going? I've seen quite a few there after council meetings, and there is an rp shop in the neighbouring building too.

Re: Current RP hubs
I'm happy to take my alts around any taverns really, and if the Pig and Whistle was active at any time I passed by I would have probably gone in there.
Purely a personal opinion of mine, is that somewhere to attract any and all RPers (be that affiliation, experience or class) is nicer when its guild neutral.
But if the Pig and Whistle has people about any time I'll pop in there. Outside of post-Council nights its seemed kinda dead.

Well that'd good to hear!
It seems at the moment besides the council and the senate there's not a lot of server wide random rp, and it would be nice to get it running again.

It's not a hub, (Yet), however I've recently taken up the Slaughtered Lamb as a new roleplay inn, which I'm trying to get on it's feet.

I don't wanna be that guy. But are there any popular Horde hubs?

Re: Current RP hubs
Yes and no. Previously, Wayfares Rest in Silvermoon City has been a hub to gather. Since the tavern have several players who keep it running, taking turns or so, it can be quite active on some of the evenings.
Otherwise, it is as spread out as the guilds. Horde RP tends to be more Guild Focused than on Alliance. Different guilds and organisations are all in different parts of the world. Elves in Silvermoon. Undead in Undercity. Bloodthirsty Raiders on border of Ashenvale. Raiders on the sea or on the sky.
Some Horde RPers have taken it to roleplay in Filthy Animal, Dalaran, Broken Isles from time to time. However due to the way Sharding works (the game getting split into multiple servers to reduce lag by reducing players in same area), one needs to /join LFRP and ask whether there's any group for RP in Dalaran. While it is the center of Legion Resistance Efforts, I am not certain which all guilds make their base in there.
To find roleplaying on Horde, I recommend that you memorize or use this post of mine to track the following guilds: Venomspine Pariahs, Sin Thalas, Red Reach Raiders, Mor Shan Marauders, Phoenixstrider House. Use /join LFRP "Hey any Random RP going on anywhere?" together with whispering different guild members about asking on if there is any RP that an unguilded fellow could join into should they stumble upon it.
In a nutshell: RP hub is where the guilds usually are, plus sometimes wayfarer's.

Re: Current RP hubs
It seems that the Recluse and Pig are quite often a hub of activity these days. I know there was a plan to make the Lounge a hub in Dalaran - and I attended a RP session there back not long after Legion dropped. Has that dropped off again now? Is SW once more the main Alliance RP hub?
