RP theatre?
Is or was there any RP theatre?
I havent thought about the idea deeply, but it´d be something in style of comedia del arte ( for those who dunno, its more about improvisation and specific characters, only thing you know is the very sceletal plot. But you muct know what would your character say/do in certain situation). Up to now only obstacles came to my mind ...
Anyway I have some school things to do, so after about a week, ill, start with thorough preparations and such things or turn down the project.

Indeed, this is gonna need precious care and some audience. The audience can be even involved in the play.
Ill keep an eye on this topic to see the suggestions and according to the development... well... thats a bit far future.

Re: RP theatre?
I would be interested in something like this. I once wanted to create a guild which would basically be a troupe of actors who could perform acts for other role-players, although I drifted away from the idea some while ago.
Point being, if you're planning to start a guild around this concept I wouldn't mind contributing.

Re: RP theatre?
It´s now in stage of forming the ideas so any experience with this will be appreciated.
So, to the theatre, the best would be I think, that everyone will have 1 character (or more if he wants) who he´ll know thoroughly. And the script, well, I can try adopting some from other plays if my own or elseones would be a failure, but I´d like to try being a playwright and anyway I dont like clasic theatre much, so I dunno many plays

Re: RP theatre?
Right sorry I took while to respond to this in detail.
I like the idea and I did see something like this being made on the realm forums awhile back. I am not sure however if it went ahead.
However I do approve of the idea and suggest you be fluid in your choice of participants. Show a variety of more experienced and new RP'ers. It gives the impression of a more fluid RP circle if that makes sense.
My two coppers.

Re: RP theatre?
Oh yes! Brilliant idea. I've been wanting to do something like this for a while, but never really knew how to set it up.
Thing is, I've done all the theory in school (I did theatre courses in my BA), and I have helped out tons as well behind the scenes (because I knew this director when I was in high school, long story), so I know how the mechanics work - BUT I really suck at writing plays. Really. Suck. So!
I don't know what exactly you had in mind, but I'll just say right here that I love love love love love classic theatre. Love. *nodnod* Seriously. It might have something to do with being forced to watch all that 'creative' and 'experimental' crap over the last three years. (Yes, I'm sorry if I stepped on anyone's toes here, everyone is entitled to their opinion, right? Also, I bear grudges. And let's say the contemporary theatre world and I haven't parted on good terms.) With classic theatre I mean everything up to avant-garde. So Commedia dell' Arte would be superawesomecool!
You do know those theatre troups were really well in tune with each other though, right? So it might be a little tricky to set that up IC. And there are certain structures and character types to respect in the art itself. (I'm thinking Capitàn and all that...) But I'm not sure how rigid you want to stick to that. We could do something alike with less of a strict following of the rules, too. I'm up for it all~
So yeah. Awesome plan. With capital H. Let me know if I can help out, I would totally love to.
Awesome awesome awesome! I said it was awesome, right? <.<
Ps: sorry if I rambled a bit there, but this got me all excited!

Re: RP theatre?
I've organised once, with my guild on french server a play adapted from Romeo and Juliette. As we were 2 cabarter (Horde and Alliance) we did the play mixing Horde and alliance, and teh public was obviously Horde and Alliance too.
It was extremely fun.
How we handel this ? We had 2 storyteller (1H, 1A) who had the whole text prepared by macro. The "comedian" played mainly by understandible emotes, and obviously said things in their own languages. It was improvised. But as the story was already said by the storyteller, and as the play itself is well known, everyone could understand. What were doing teh comedian were more visual stuff as duel, fight, love declaration etc...
Was extremely nice to do it mixed with the two sides.

If needed, you can ask Eledeza as custumer and singer. She is suposed to be IC talented in both !

Re: RP theatre?
We had this awesome Orc hunter in Orgrimmar a couple of years back..
He used to arrange small shows a few times a day, and people paid him with gold after the event was over. I think he actually got rich by doing that, even all the OOCers gave him money for the shows.
the shows weren't that complicated, but they were funny as hell.
I remember at least two different things he used to act:
1. finding a snake (pet snake), running away from it in panic and eventually getting bitten by it and dieing (feign death ability).
2. coming home late and drunk and meeting the angry wife who yells at him and eventually throws a rock (one of those throwable items like Happy Fun Rock or a Leather Ball) on his head, making him fall face down on the ground (feign death ability).

Re: RP theatre?
Ya, having both Alliance and Horde in the Theatre would be cool. Just make up some specific characters from both sides, then some like greedy merchant or whatever, I dunno the characters from commedia dell arte simply some easy to understand though fun to play/see characters. We could start with both some plays and short shows with the ssame characters in both.
And if it was H + A theatre, that would surely make it more enjoyable + thrilling. You never know when that Orc by your left gets angry or if that big fat Tauren wont notice the little gnome already sitting on 1st row seat.
Oh and I like the idea with money and I also have one of those Harpy fun rocks... Young harpies have hard lives... Harpy Fun Rock... the word Fun is...ehm... Harpy culture is something worth studying

Re: RP theatre?
Realisation of the theatre is postponed, since I now lack free time. I do play WoW quite a lot, but I have no time to plan and be in charge of such a project. I assume in 3 months time, ill be able to make my mind up about it all.

Re: RP theatre?
It´s a good idea. I have one demand, though: the actors should all be gnomes! Oh, and they should also reenact the greatest events in Warcraft lore! Imagine gnomes reenacting the battle between Arthas and Illidan. Would be fun to watch, right?
