Captain Reynard Ferrand
Character name: Captain Reynard Ferrand
Alias: None
Gender: Male
Age: Thirty Something
Race: Human
Birth region: Kul'Tiras
Specific area/town: Boralus
Family: Father - Captain Caer Ferrand (deceased); Older brother - Captain Maynard Ferrand (deceased).
Known friends or enemies: Okoth of Stranglethorn (Friend: First Mate of the Javelin); Tanithil of Westfall (Friend); Kita (Friend)
Profession: Merchant Captain
Ship: The Javelin out of Boralus.
Description: Reynard is tall and slim of athletic build. His hair is naturally blond but he has taken to dying it black recently for no other reason than he was bored. He has a penchant for wearing black. He is rarely seen without the sword which was a gift from his grandfather.
Personality: Reynard is a gambler and a carouser. He has a happy-go-lucky mindset and is very positive. He is not too fussed about being legal - though he is always mindful to look like he is legitimate and honest. He tends to be very fickle, changing his mind often, but he can also be quite driven on the rare occasions that he gets something in his head that he really wants to achieve.
History: Born the very day that the Dark Portal was opened up, and second son to Captain Caer Ferrand, Reynard had a typical Kul'Tiran upbringing. When Stormwind fell around year 4, Reynard was growing up on Borauls. As the Second War raged he continued his childhood, pretty isolated from the issues on the mainland. His father did his best to hide Reynard from the wars raging elsewhere on Azeroth. In fact it took until Reynard's 18th birthday, when he was a crewman aboard his father's ship for him to hear about the New Horde and an orc called Thrall.
When Reynard was twenty the Third War broke out. He and his family moved to Theramore under the protection of Jaina Proudmoore. A year later Reynard saw his first real taste of war when he went with his father and older brother to Mount Hyal to fight alongside Jaina's soldiers. Reynard knew there and then that violence was not his preference, but sadly was something he was good at.
At the age of twenty two as the Lich King assended the Frozen Throne, Reynard was given command of his own ship, The Javelin, named after a shark native to the waters around his homeland of Kul Tiras. This he sailed across the world, slowly beginning to build his contacts and work as a merchant captain in his own right.
On his 25th birthday, Reynard decided to really set out on his own and he returned to his home city of Boralus, leaving his father and older brother behind in Theramore. This proved to be a good choice five years later when Theramore was utterly destroyed by Garrosh Hellscream's mana bomb.
When Reynard was twenty seven he aided the Alliance war effort against the Lich King, transporting soldiers to and from Northrend and Stormwind. A year later, when the Cataclysm struck the ancient trade routes were utterly torn up. Reynard set out across the world to create fresh routes and build fresh agreements and partnerships.
Then on Reynard's Thirtieth birthday disaster struck. Reynard's mother, father and brother were all killed in the attack on Theramore. This gave Reynard an almost pathological hatred of the Horde and all they stand for. Something he has never been able to shake off. Leaving the well known continents of Azeroth and all they reminded him of, Reynard spent a year on the newly discovered continent of Pandaria where he developed a love of the Pandaren unarmed combat system. He would still love to find a Monk Master to teach him these skills. In Pandaria he also made more merchant contacts and trade agreements.
A year later when the military companies of the world set off for newly discovered Draenor, Reynard remained firmly behind, working on his trade partnerships and seeing the world. His travels took him to the South Seas and to a place called Plunder Isle. There he fell in with the Bloodsail Buccanneers. He signed up and began to work for Duke Falrevere, becoming a trusted and respected captain for the group. They taught him the skills of thievery and disguise and helped him set up a network of spies across the whole of Azeroth.
During his 32nd year, working as a Bloodsail Buccanneer, Reynard spent a large amount of time going up against the interests of the Steamwheedle Cartel. As such his name is well known in Booty Bay and in Ratchet - places he now dare not step unless in deep disguise.
Now, at the age of 34 with the Burning Legion returning once more Reynard aids the Alliance war effort on the Broken Isles, helping out Stormwind City. At the same time he is working hard to build up a non-violent crime syndicate in the city, known as the elusive House of Cards.
Things you may know about this character: A confident, swashbuckling sea captain. He has a fierce (unreasonable?) hatred of the Horde due to the events at Theramore.
Things you may not know about this character: A member of the Bloodsail Buccaneers. Also known as the mysterious Jack of Diamonds. No one knows the link between these two personalities yet. Reynard is a master thief and expert at disguise. He has many aliases and wanders the cities in many guises.
Possible crime record: None (yet!)

Re: Captain Reynard Ferrand
Updated:- I've completely revamped and rewritten this toon, making his story and profession much more normal and low key. Full backstory to be fleshed out as I work on it. I hardly ever played him before so no one will know what his backstory used to be anyway.
I expect to be playing him a bit more in future...

Re: Captain Reynard Ferrand
Updated.
Added a personal history, covering where he was and what he was doing at each of the significant historical events since he was born.
Decided he was born the very day that the Dark Portal was first opened. Whilst a bit cheesy, I'm not aware of anyone else who has done this and it makes it very easy to remember his age, and know how old he was at any given point in recent history.
