To serve a Master

Those words he had heard so many times before when they were passing the dusty wastelands of Barrens. The goblin in fine silken robes always seemed so grumpy and annoyed when they were together, but still he always summoned Kepsillin to accompany him on these travels. Keps wasn’t too bothered about it as he actually quite enjoyed travelling and seeing the world on a noisy fel-mech-motorbike, while focusing on the dreams how the world would look after Burning Legion would finally set the world on flames. Maybe when Azeroth was turned into playground for demons and the Legion, Kepsilling could take advatange of already knowing the environment, find a way to gain profit or power by telling stories and showing places of the old might Legion had devoured. He wondered if he had been spending too much time with the Goblin..



The Goblin shouted and instantly shattered the dreams of Kepsillin ever becoming anything big, while the bike stopped next to a small path that would lead them up to mountains. Quickly Kepsillin jumped in the small bag and rummaged it until he got his hands on couple of rare runes and went to give them to Goblin. Goblin took them and hided them under his robes and started to walk up the path. Kepsillin’s mouth wided into a terrible grin, that could almost mean he was smiling, as his master didn’t kick him this time. That was the closest he could get for getting a compliment. It was starting to look like a good day.



Kepsillin had no idea what was to come but nodded quickly. If he could survive this long path with his tiny legs and feet, he could manage to serve his master in any glorious ways he wanted! At just that moment Goblin pointed at his cloak and then glared angrily to Kepsillin. It was gathering dust again and Keps knew exactly what was needed to do. Despite not fully understanding the reason for a short goblin even using long and dramatic cloak, he grapped it from the end and made his everything to not let it touch the ground and get more messy.



Kepsillin peered around, they had come next to a small cave on the mountains. He wasn’t sure if they had been here before since the dust and rocks seemed so much the same to him. While Goblin was sorting his equipments and placing the runestones, Kepsillin sat on his butt and let his gaze wander on the view of the Barrens. He wasn’t allowed to examine the pre-ritual sorting close anymore after he once had set apparently important scrolls on fire in a bad moment.



Keps was shocked, master asked and NEEDED him! He run into a cave as soon as he could. Everything seemed to be in place, candles, drawings on the ground, runestones and several other strange things Keps had never seen before carefully placed in the right places. Keps stared up the goblin who already had opened up a book and started to mutter words in demonic language. Soon the air started to feel tense, slowly the whole world inside this cave started to feel like it didn’t belong to this realm anymore. Dark presence overwhelmed Kepsillin and shadowy figure started to appear in the back of the cave..



While slowly repeating these words over and over few times, Goblin moved his other hand above Kepsillin and suddenly a pierce and terrible pain moved through his whole body, and he set up a high –pitched screech! He collapsed on the ground senseless and for a moment he was laying on the ground, feeling the dark presence grow in the cave. But soon disappeared from the scene and got his soul returned to somewhere in the Twisting Nether. He hated the trip from the bottom of his corrupted heart, but still knew his master wouldn’t forgot him and would later summon his loyal Imp from over the nether back to him, to serve once more.

An interesting story. I do not read the stories on the forums often, for there are simply so many of them, but this one was nice for it was from the perspective of an Imp, their view on the world, their service to the warlock, their loyalty... despite having just been killed.

It is curious on why an Imp is so keen on to serve a Warlock as "his loyal imp". What is his reason for loyalty. To see Azeroth? To get a chance to set things alit. Who knows.

Maybe it's a forced thought? Maybe it's because he knows he'll be summoned back anyway and staying loyal means less painful deaths and trips to Twisting Nether? Maybe Twisting Nether ain't that great place for a small Imp to be? Think them like Gnomes of their faction, a punting object. Felguards can be such a bully I hear. Or maybe it's just the fact that in Azeroth with his master he gets opportunities to hurt, to cause pain, do the natural things that demons were created for? Maybe Rahxo somehow likes the demon and deep down inside feels compassion towards him, thing i'd imagine you won't see much with the demon bois? Or maybe there's something even bigger...?
