MBTI Character Personality Type Empty MBTI Character Personality Type

Post by Gesh Thu Nov 21, 2013 12:37 pm

Hey guys! just wanted to post a fun thread that might be useful for classifying character personality, the Myser Brigg Test is a kind of well, old personality identifier that was used seriously about.. twenty to thirty years ago, it still has some valuable points, but like most things involving self identity it's never been considered completely accurate, however a lot of writers and storytellers use the varying classifications to held define (or start to define) a character.
-

First of all there's this.

Myers-Briggs types consist of four letters that represent different 'sides,' if you will. The different letters are:

E or I for Extroverted or Introverted (whether a person thrives on human contact or private time)

S or N for Sensing or Intuition (tendency to focus on immediate factual information vs. forming patterns and impressions)

F or T for Feeling or Thinking (subjectivity vs. objectivity, or decisions based on feelings vs. facts)

J or P for Judging or Perceiving ("orientation to the outer world," or a lifestyle that is structured and decided vs. one that is flexible and adaptable).

-
**Secondly, there's this quiz here! (Props to Kittrina for finding it)**

Then we take these eight options and we get sixteen established personality types, bare in mind these are all dependant on method and process, not outcome so you could have an emotionally adjusted ENFJ who cares and inspires, but also happens to inspire people to slaughter children in the thousands.

Post by Kittrina Thu Nov 21, 2013 1:18 pm

Oooh nice idea. A quick google landed me at http://www.16personalities.com/free-personality-test which has a fairly decent quiz you could fill out 'in character' so to speak.

Kitt was:

ENFJ (Teacher)
Spoiler:

Which is pretty dead-on.

My mage meanwhile:

INFP (Healer)
Spoiler:

which again is fairly accurate.

Krelk falls along the lines of ENFP (Champion)
Spoiler:

She values possibility, entertainment and definitely relies heavily on improvising, although very little with verbal fluency and more so with finding the easiest way to remove your opposer, mostly with brute force.

Asharli I would have to go with ENFJ (Teacher)
Spoiler:

She's an Anchorite and favors spiritual progression both within herself and others, she has and strives to be to be a pillar of support of whichever community she calls home, whilst considering everyones opinions, feelings and their own qualities.
(Funnily enough I also, happen to be an ENFJ.)

Asharli also shows elements of INFJ (Counsellor)
Spoiler:
.

Kethendris my Sunreaver is by far a ESTJ (Supervisor)
Spoiler:

She's calculating, not so much cold but more so proffesional, she favours routine and discipline in herself and others and although she doesn't always take on leadership roles in task forces, she does take it upon herself to make sure even if it's not her plan, it goes ahead like clockwork.

Dreadstone, my Demonologist from Argent Dawn, I'm gonna go with INTP (Architect)
Spoiler:

She's a scientist and she likes to know how the world works, she's driven by curiosity but also a responsibility to develop order out of chaos, she sees Demons as useful tools that simply need to be tamed, and the fel a school of magic (or more appropriately, science) we just don't know enough to trust.

Eidan: INFJ (Counsellor)
Introversion - 42%, Intuition - 18%, Feeling - 60%, Judging - 9%.

Got some interesting information from that test Kitt linked, fits a bit more for Eidan than the original explanation of INFJ x)

This is a rather large website, describing the different types in great detail. I tend to use that as it gives an even larger description than most.

Eh, on these tests i'm never too great at juding on some decisions at least. BUT! I tried a bit of both the test and this and mainly both came on similar things or well the same, though on some details or so i'm unsure mostly on some details but yeah!

Only did it for Siegmund though:

Your personality type: ENTP. (ENTP came out both in this threats and Kitts link)

Strength of individual traits: Extraversion - 42%, Intuition - 13%, Thinking - 40%, Prospecting - 4%.

ENTP (Inventor):

Tbh I think it's pretty accurate for the char!

interesting. there are some quotes there that fits nihilia perfectly

ENFJ's are so externally focused that it's especially important for them to spend time alone. This can be difficult for some ENFJs, because they have the tendency to be hard on themselves and turn to dark thoughts when alone. Consequently, ENFJs might avoid being alone, and fill their lives with activities involving other people. ENFJs tend to define their life's direction and priorities according to other people's needs, and may not be aware of their own needs. It's natural to their personality type that they will tend to place other people's needs above their own, but they need to stay aware of their own needs so that they don't sacrifice themselves in their drive to help others.

Djego
ENFP (Champion), with 90% extraversion (Yeah baby,), 22% intuition (he's not the smartest person in the block and understands emotional situations even less, though there he actually tries)
60% feeling (he's emotional, you have to be as an artist) and 20% prospecting, he loves everybody and believes everybody.

Post by Muzjhath Thu Nov 21, 2013 5:37 pm

Did the test Katt linked for fun (as if for Muzjhath).
It's defenatly not made with psycopaths in mind. Nor are those description archtypes in the OP. Got ISTP for her, with a majority of the slider going into introversion with how the questions were formed. Some questions I couldn't answear well since they were also to modern, and Muz didn't really understand leusiur time.

Also, to really use MBTI as a guideline you need to study and learn about it.
Just saying some letter combinations and following usually produces a rather bad and stereotypical character.
Same as you aren't "Introverted" You're "More introverted than you're extroverted". Some people are right on the middle being neither. Some are almost (or fully) too one side.
If you don't know the system you'll see the letters and just go "Okay, wham, bam, thank you ma'm!"
Still, it's a good system if you read up about it and learn how the interactions work for designing baseline characteristics.

Edit, after finding that "Key traits" thing I saw that ISTP fit somewhat for Muzjhath, even if some parts are taken to extremes).

Spoiler:
This is me IRL

Quinian is an ESTP
ESTPs enjoy drama, passion and physical pleasures. However, people with this personality type should be aware that their passion may manifest itself in many different ways, with some of them being quite risky or unhealthy – for instance, many gamblers are ESTPs. ESTP personality traits may also push them towards inadvertently hurting other people – as ESTPs are very direct and rely on facts and logic (T trait) rather than emotions (F trait), their words can easily hurt more sensitive personality types.

Ha that was fun!

Arli was ESTP and it was interesting to do it as "someone else" and answer how he would.  In my opinion, it was spot on.  Great thread, thanks Smile

"People with the ESTP personality type are very social, spontaneous and direct. Some may even see them as rude or reckless, but ESTPs truly love action and always dive right into the heart of the storm. ESTPs dislike theoretical debates or thinking about the future – they are only interested in the present moment and focus all their efforts on enjoying what is rather than thinking about what could be."
