Call of Duty: Black Ops
I'm not a massive Call of Duty fan, at least not after they dilluted the series after 4 to focus almost entirely on multiplayer and leave the single-player to rot, and I have prefered Infinity Ward games in the past.
From the information released the Iranian Embassy Siege has already been confirmed and pausing the video at the right moment the Vietnam war is also clearly seen.

Not sure what to think of this one. Very vague teaser, as usual, and the previous games that focused on Vietnam and the like kinda... sucked. Suppose this gives them a good shot at doing it right, but I've a feeling it'll all be too overly Hollywood-ish anyway. Don't get me wrong, I liked the lack of realism in Modern Warfare 2, but considering the title, I'm not sure if I'm up for playing some Rambo-wannabe game.
I'll more likely just wait for Modern Warfare 3, should it be made by Respawn.

Activision owns the Call of Duty IP and the Modern Warfare brandname is currently debuted over in court, so I wouldn't get my hopes up. :3
I hope they do something new and what they want to. Something fresh. That said, enough OTness from me.
It looks like what I expected. I think the setting is interesting though, that could be the exciting part.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
I hear it's still something they're fighting over, indeed, but should they be unable to get the rights for it, I'm sure they'll just try to come up with some spin-off anyway. I haven't been that big of a fan of Treyarch's productions, mainly because I mostly stick with the singe player experience, which I found was often not as interesting and at times buggy compared to Infinity Ward's.
But yar, that said, I just hope they'll put some decent dedication into the SP mode. I don't have enough spare time in my hands to get hooked on another MP game. At this rate, I'm just getting a bit of a feeling that CoD is going to be the new Guitar Hero. Release a new game very year, put it some fresh graphics, setting or campaign and some tweaks to the MP, and you've got another bestseller.

Et eeez not a TV Series.
Just another generic CoD that I won't buy not even try.

Posts cleaned so the actual discussion can take place here. If you have no interest in this game or the series, simply don't bother looking here. No need to go asshatting around because the subject doesn't interest you here.
Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
Having a hard time getting the special feel for this game myself. Alot of kablammo just doesn't tease my synapses enough. Then again, the previous parts of the series weren't that interesting to me as well <_< Made the history freak in me cringe a bit.

Lol I expected a version that went down in brooklyn, I was really excited for a moment then saw the actual trailer.
Looks hyped and even though I dont really want to I'll be spending my money on it no doubt.

Not to OT, but I actually really like the SP in MW2. May be part due to Captain MacTavish being voiced by Kevin McKidd though, and me being a fanboi of the ginger.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
Ugh, I get tired of repeats of similar game play over and over. I forked out for Modern Warfare 2 at the behest of my friends expecting good multiplayer, and got tired of nonsensical balance and 'realism' meaning muppets running around akimbo-ing shotguns that'd blow your arms off if you actually tried to fire them one-handed. The fighting doesn't end up looking 'real' at all, because cover be damned and hell if people actually move as a group; just zerging wildly.
This won't change that, so... Yeah, not buying.

I'm not expecting much for this. Treyarch just satisfies the demand for new CoD games while Infinity Ward are concentrating on making the good stuff

I hope that this will be finally...a good vietnam war game.
Vietnam War games always failed. Only one that were semi-cool, were Vietcong and Men of Valor.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
TBH.. I never rated Treyarch and i'm not expecting much from this. World at War was an annoying distaster, clipping, bad level design you'd get constantly caught on, the severe 'lack of polish' in the general game with weapon models that looked like they were made of tin and painted with Ronseal.
There's an influx in 'Modern' games nowadays and i'm simply still having too much fun with MW2 and BC2 to warrant picking up 'Modern of Honour' Or this Black Ops.
Moar Spec Ops missions and Co-op please!

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
Admittedly, the trailer looks good, but we all know trailers can be quite manipulative that way. For Black Ops, they sure make a lot of bangs and noises.
Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops
I'm mostly just sick of every modern shooter being, well, "modern" 20-minutes-into-the-future ever since Call of Duty 4, including the Battlefield BC spinoffs (Yeah I'm aware the Desert Combat mod was the first and Battlefield 2 was the first major release, but really CoD4 had nothing in common with those except gritty ripped-from-the-headlines arabic scenery and Colt M4A1's).
Black Ops seems to be Modern Warfare 2 rehashed by the less-competent CoD studio (Treyarch blegh) and painted with an overcoat of World at War to be more gorey, "realistic" and honestly, dated.
I didn't really dislike World at War that much though. It didn't hold up to CoD2 or CoD4, but it wasn't a bad game, so I might actually give Black Ops a try. Going to keep watch, at least.
