[H] The College of Revenants

The College of Revenants appears as a brotherhood of like minded academics, operating out of the Undercity as an independent body of education and research. Granted status by the Dark Lady of the Forsaken, Sylvanas Windrunner, the College explores various avenues that could be of interest to the Horde, as well as a number of more esoteric academic pursuits.

Under the guidance of the College's Fellows, the Professorship work in pairs to educate small groups of students in a variety of subjects. Students are assisted to develop their own fields of study, and eventually become Free Scholars in their own right. Classes are made up of both the newly initiated and longer standing scholars in order that those less experienced will learn from their colleagues as much as from their teachers.

Beneath these hard working, studious initiates are the myriad neophytes wishing entry into the student body. These individuals are required to prove their worth as potential students before they will be taken into a tutorial, often being given seemingly pointless tasks as part of an extended lesson imparted on them by the Professorship as a whole.

Whilst all of this is accurate it is only a shadow of the true activities of the College. Behind the very active and productive facade, the actual purpose of the College's initiated members is the covert surveillance of the enemies of the Horde. All lessons and the ends to which the Fellows and Professorship guide the student body are all in line with this function.

Each tutor group furthers specific acts of espionage and acquisition in line with their Colloquiums orders. On rare occasions the entirety of the College turns its prodigious academic and clandestine skill to a single task and the enemies of the Horde find their plans foiled at every turn. Troop movements are shadowed before being pounced upon by allied Horde troops, key individuals are found assassinated, vital documents are stolen and sabotage abounds.





The College of Revenants is looking for mature role-players of any race interested in both our cover and the actual functions we perform. We are an English speaking guild and though we welcome people independent of their primary language, a reasonable level of English is expected for ease of communication. Likewise on a more IC perspective, characters need not be career spies or academics to apply as long as they are willing to work within the College’s structure and have demonstrated loyalty to the Horde in general or the Dark Lady specifically. Those new to RP are heartily encouraged to apply and the officers are on hand to guide you through the process. Applications are also welcome from PvPers & Raiders willing to indulge in the occasional bout or get more involved with RP on the understanding that RP is our primary focus. We also try as much as possible to hold events, both casual and led, which are accessible to all and therefore a high level character is not a necessity/requirement to get involved. We actively have many links with other guilds and encourage cross-guild collaboration.

To be able to accept you fully into the College it is important that you provide details of the following.

• A general description of your character
  
• What activities or deeds your character may have participated in to bring them to the attention of the College. e.g. a talent which sets you apart, or deeds of value to the Horde or Lady Sylvanas
  
• What are your characters goals? e.g. Are you more of a military or combative character, a defender of the Horde, or are you keen on professions or study? This is needed to determine the most suitable tutorial placement and Colloquium assignment for your character.
  
• Any other details such as history or background of your character that you think we need to know.
  
• What are your preferred Out Of Character activities? e.g. PVP, Raiding etc.  This is not required and is purely to help us get you in contact with other like-minded players within the Guild
  

Officer Ranks

Fellows:
The organisational and principle tier of the College. The Fellows set the directives for the College, which are disseminated through the Colloquiums, and guide it towards a number of long term annual goals. They grant initiation and promotion to those students who have demonstrated success or academic prowess.

Praetor - Leader of the College
Custodian - Organisational head & second in command

Professors:
The teaching tier within the College. Members of these ranks are sorted into pairs (called a Colloquium) that work closely together to tutor a specific group of students. Free Scholars who have been afforded tenure may be offered a position within the Professorship. The Professorship as a whole guides the short term running of the College within the semester goals set by the Fellows.

Preceptor - Head of each Colloquium, these Professors focus on the complete development of all members of their tutor group, themselves included. They are in charge of running and approving the day to day studies and overall curriculum of their students.

Preponderant - A Professor focused primarily on the martial development of their adherents. The Preponderant Council is in charge of the military activities of the College, proposing action to the entire Professorship prior to the matter being taken to the Fellows.

Non-Officer Ranks

Students:
The student tier within the College and where the majority of the College’s members lie. Students are sorted into mixed rank tutor groups working under the direction of one Professor of each rank, called a Colloquium.

Free Scholar - An established and well trusted Scholar who has been encouraged to pursue their own ends for the betterment of the College. Whilst still assessed by a Colloquium these students are afforded an even greater measure of freedom with both their studies and their time. However those whose work affords the College no benefit for consistent loss may have these freedoms rapidly curtailed.

Scholar - A student rank, a full member of the college, shown to understand the basic tenants, the appointed task of the College and willing to undertake the duties given to them by their Colloquium.

Initiate - A new student of the College, just introduced to the College's purpose, having passed the initiation, and been revealed the 'initial truth'. Initiates become adherents of a Colloquium.

Uninitiated:
The uneducated masses, both potential students and the outside world fit within this category.

Neophyte - A brand new 'student' or potential student who has yet to show their worth to the College.

This is most certainly true. We are willing to guide you and teach you for the proper roleplay as long as you show basic respect towards other people in the world of Azeroth. WoW isnt an RPG, but a MMORPG. People around you arent AI, (mostly o.O- dem bots) and they want to enjoy RP as well.


I am stating this only due to some individuals abusing our accessibility for RP, that they do than godemotings, metagamings and similar.
(perhaps for those fresh, a rewise on RP politics and rules of general behaviour is advised. enjoy game with others and others shall enjoy with you)

Indeed. Proffessorium: The Preceptor and Preponderant rank are not only ones who can do events, although these two hold to commonly host at least ONE event per week.
(for myself i can state i am reserving Mondays for my classes)
As well, our /g chat is always filled with asking for roleplay or announcements regarding rp in which colleges of college can join in. Be it casual... secretive... or class rp.
At last, this isn't all as preceptor is tending to hold OPEN lectures. These lectures are debates in which everyone can engage if they wish. And they are not necessarily members of college.

We also had our annual Winter Veil Steeplechase run by the Warspeaker Preponderant Dulachan! An assault course to be remembered! The winners were our own Scholar Mirra and visiting Shatterskull Maurader Calenor!
