New Pope Poem!

Personally I'm not religious, but for those of you who are (Catholics in particular) here's a little something I wrote for you all, in light of the recent Papal election.

Congrats on the new Pope!
He seems like a nice bloke
I wish I was there when he spoke
Or saw that cool white smoke.

I don't subscribe to the Catholic church and am by no measure a fan of the institution but that is offensive and you should probably reconsider joking about child abuse so freely.

I can't tell if you're trolling but if anyone gets offended by that, then they spend too much time indoors. It's as common as "get back in the Kitchen."

Ps. Pedophilia is a subject that has been a little too close to me a little too often in my life and as a result, I actually found it unpleasant to read that poem. Just like I find it unpleasant to be around anybody else who makes jokes about molesting children. Prison Pope Poem

First, I will state that I'm not offended by Vaell's poem.

However, I understand very much where Irixar is coming from. I was molested when I was still a minor and to this day, that has affected my life. I usually have good days but there are moments when memories of that come back and influence my day and mood.

For a long time, I was an angry person and my past relationships were complicated by my past experiences. I didn't realize how badly my day-to-day life was affected until I finally said it out loud to a counsellor, last year.

But there are days where I feel disgusted when people make light of it, though I've learned to accept people's ignorance and not let it affect me.

I was also raised Catholic and when I was a kid and still believed in God, I had nothing but good experiences with the priests I had. A few bad apples sadly spoiled the lot, in this case.

Basically, it's harder than you think, being a victim of sexual abuse. We are survivors, in our own way, living in a very sexual world and trying to find a way to be comfortable with it. and it is not easy, I assure you.
