The colors are very flat, try blending some different hues in there by shading and highlighting with different colors.

Big, BIG difference between blending colors to get a color so dark it looks black, then using black when blending colors to darken. Use black to make a color darker and it falls flat. It sucks all the life out of it, like the void it is.

The black in you example is not black, it's a really really really dark brown, created by blending colors together.
