IC games and activities for interaction Empty IC games and activities for interaction

Post by Raenmar Wed Jan 02, 2013 6:16 pm

So some feedback I got from the last banquet was that people didn't really interact much outside the groups they came in, and it was suggested that we have some sort of game to get people to start talking to each other.

I really don't have much in mind, so I'd like some suggestions on possible games or activities that will be fun and fulfil the purpose. A scavenger hunt was suggested, but whether or not it'll be fitting for this type of event and whether or not it'd get people to interact, I don't know. So yeah, I'd just like any other suggestions people have.

I guess we could start a brawl and then people would interact fo sho, but it wouldn't go down very well.

Wait, people OOCly were not pleased by the lack of interaction between groups? Did you only invite shy characters to your banquet?!

Assign people by name to certain tables when they're eating, that way they're stuck next to new people...

I often find that its best to get people in a skype call or something similar, even if they don't / can't talk, and use some of the games there to pass the time. I often use it to play chess with others.

Edit- you could also have something similar to a pub quiz, using server lore for questions and answers (to prevent googling) or perhaps even a game of riddles. Just ask everyone involved to be sportsmanlike and play according to IC knowledge, or to at least work it out themselves without using google.

I've played everything from twenty questions, to truth or dare, to Simon Says in RP.

Simon Says got great when Rae Wulfgnar was "Simon." Had us all doing pushups and threatening to arrest us if we didn't comply...

So much so that when he finally gave an order without the Simon Says first, we didn't notice and all blatantly failed by obeying.

You could always play Black Jack.

Get a deck of cards and ICly remove all cards above 7, or above 8, or above 9. It's up to you. Then you explain the rules to the players.
They are supposed to be as close to 21 as possible, adding all card numbers together. They can grab as many cards as they want, as long as they don't get over the number 21. They may also stop whenever they want. When they stop, the next person draws his cards. Don't tell the others what you got before it's over.

You could always draw one card each to see who starts first - highest of course.

And you can also bet some gold on this Wink

Wait, why would you ICly remove all cards above a certain number?

A simple one is RP out rolling dice each and the highest roller has to drink 10 frog venoms (or other strong in-game booze) in a row. Good for drunken RP and laughing at people vomiting.

Used to play Texas hold em with a bunch of people OOC way back. If you are playing cards IC and this addon is still functional I recommend it.

No they can't, because gambling is prohibited by the ToS. Other than that, Blackjack is indeed awesome to play IC, brings back memories of how we used to sit by a campfire, play it and loudly proclaim each other cheaters when the Shields were away on a campaign. :')

You can. But I wasn't talking about actual ingame money. I meant IC money. This is an RP forum and the post was about IC games, no? Smile

Less chance to win if you have cards with numbers at like 13. No? And I said "It's up to you", if you don't want to remove cards above 10 then don't do so Wink It just makes it harder to get 21 without going over.

Yeah, it makes it a little more fair.

The highest card you can get in blackjack is the ace (11 or 1) though Razz why not just play it how it is made? There's no need to change the rules!

As for betting IC gold; I can see drama coming from it just because of how vastly different people view how much gold one should have. If someone is treating 1 gold as a hell of a lot and then someone comes and places 100g down and shrugs like it is nothing, it can cause issues.

Why not take everyone out for a big hunt?! See who can bring back the biggest fish or game, roll for size etc.

imo its up to the person hosting the event to come up with a way to have people interact.

Its not a matter of just setting up a date and inviting some people on the calendar it should have more about it aswell, something with more interaction.

Serve crazy ass dishes that are still alive and need a wacking, force people to do some elegant ballroom dance together through a raffle, bring a firespitting bloke who's act goes tits up and sets everyone on fire.

There's plenty of ways to get people to get together, you just have to put in some thought/effort

oh, I've scripted a roulette table, so you could use that. get people to place bets, then spin the item and see what comes up. I'll even include a "cheat sheet" that tells you the odds for every possible outcome.
