I think there it was cleared before that it was a feature put in by the provider of the "base"/code/that thing of the forum, which serves no purpose, can't recall if there was any possibility to even make it matter.

I guess you get points from both being a member of the forum for a longer period of time and from posting, so it's not really the "value/quality" of your post that dictates your points.
If you for example look at Nifty and Sevelle you'll notice that Nifty has posted a bit more, and has 40 more points. Sevelle has however created 77 less posts than Nifty. Then look at how Sevelle has been a member of the forum for a little while longer, which is what should make up for those 37 points. Cba to go into the math to figure out exact numbers though.

Most people who have been around since the very beginning seem to have a bit over 1000 points extra, so it's not really off.
There might be other things that reward points as well though, such as adding friends on the forum, perhaps signatures, avatars, messages sent, etc. It might count the amount of letters or words in your posts though, but I've not seen too much pointing towards that. Or even how many times you've been quoted, although I've not seen that being used before.

Edit: Just compared you with Oskar as you joined on the same day, and the difference in points earned (Points minus posts) is just 9, so it's likely that there are a few things previously mentioned in my post that apply.
