It's a massive shame that I have missed several events of this, hopefully once my schedule clears up I'll try to attend more.
I also would like to meet all the Chapter officers for a rather serious discussion for the future so hopefully that can be arranged.

Mineral - dear - I won't lie to you, those shades make the majority of your screenshots look like the setup to some kind of vintage soft-porn. Just the hip thrust and the lusty camera-wards gaze, it's the poster for: "A Wintersveil Romp, Down Under".

As for the trollboss, I just threw him in there to make people laugh during our attack two nights a go, he didn't actually "appear" in the fight so to speak.

SI:7 field report on events surrounding the Anethionian crusade in Stranglethorn, by special agent 17, codename: Cat

I have attached myself to a small Gnomish force being led by the Ironforge Senator of Invention. It includes several of the senator’s employees, as well as Gearholder Tinkerbolt and a couple of mages. The senator has all but admitted that his purpose is to test some new weaponry against the trolls. The purpose of the Anethionian fanatics is yet to be determined.
Day 1
We have arrived at the fanatic camp in Raven Hill. Apparently there have been recent troll incursions in this area, but I see no sign of such. The whole area reeks of death. I found an animal skull in one of the abandoned buildings and even that looked pissed off to be here.
I tried listening in to the fanatics’ conversations, but they are extremely paranoid and always watchful. They have accepted us into the camp with reluctance and suspicion, and we have already been warned that misuse of dangerous equipment or magic of any kind will not be tolerated. Clearly they dislike and mistrust anything they do not understand or cannot control, and make their own rules based on these fears. It will be a miracle if this bizarre alliance ends without confrontation.
Day 2
The ‘crusade’ (fanatics’ characterisation, not mine) has pushed on into the jungle. The words ‘strategy’ and ‘tactics’ clearly having no meaning to the fanatics, their preferred approach was straight down the main road, yelling and hollering their ridiculous battle cries. As a result, we were ambushed by a throng of troll archers and warriors and sustained several injuries. The savages were seen off, but several of the fanatics then got into a completely pointless quarrel with a couple of Death Knights traveling the vale, sustaining several serious injuries and one near-fatality. They seem eager to fight anything and everything that gets in their way, regardless of motive or consequence. If this attitude continues, it could be a very short crusade indeed. This would be no bad thing, in my opinion.
In-keeping with the complete lack of tactical awareness I have witnessed so far, we have camped below a hill and next to a precipice. If the local trolls are remotely organised, they will have little trouble obliterating the camp in the night. Fortunately I do not believe this to be the case, but have chosen to sleep in a tall tree anyway. From this vantage point, I watched two of the fanatics, a young male and female, setting out to ‘scout’ the surrounding area. They did not get very far. Evidently there are some itches that the warm embrace of the holy light alone cannot scratch.
Day 3
The fanatics, supported by gnomish artillery, attacked a troll village not far from where we are camped. Everything was going smoothly until one of the fanatics, exceeding her technical capabilities, attempted to activate a smoke bomb and set it off in the middle of our group. Driven back to the artillery station, we were pursued by trolls and suffered more casualties. On the plus side, the smoke served to obscure the spellcasting of a reckless gnome mage who would otherwise probably have been executed after the battle. As we retreated back to camp, we heard the screams of trolls and the yells of fanatics behind us, in what sounded like a slaughter.
Senator Tjib’s weaponry has so far consisted of standard explosive munitions, along with an ‘experimental’ death ray which I have found quite potent and will deliver to the barracks once this is over. He has, however, attached some sort of monstrous mechanical arm to one of his employees. I do not know what it is made from, but it appears to have some degree of sentience. I know for a fact that the girl did not ask for such a procedure to be performed on her, and this development underscores the need to keep a close eye on the senator’s ongoing experiments to make sure he does not overstep his bounds too far. I understand that the King and his councillors consider a technological advantage over the Horde to be essential, but there are limits to what the public will accept without morale taking a substantial hit.
Day 4
The senator spent the day malingering in bed, sending his employees off with a small force of fanatics to besiege the troll temple Zul’Kunda. As far as I can gather, their ‘plan’ is to simply assault the front gate and trust in ‘the light’ to secure them a victory. This is by far the stupidest thing I have heard during this short expedition, and that is truly saying something. I have declined to take part in the main assault, but will track them from a distance in case I get a chance to extract the gnomes from this suicidal misadventure.
ADDITIONAL: The fanatics are trapped inside the temple with two gnomes and the senator’s pet idiot, having sustained heavy casualties. I have alerted the remaining humans in the camp, as well as the senator, and plans are being made to effect a rescue, but to be honest if any of them make it out alive it will be a miracle. That temple is swarming with hundreds of trolls, and they will not be able to hide for long.
Day 5
The fanatics sent a large force of mostly raw recruits, accompanied by siege weapons, to storm the troll temple. Senator Tjib, roused from his death bed, assisted the assault by sending a motorcycle laden with heavy explosives careering into the heart of the temple. The resulting blast filled the sky with fire and smoke and great blocks of stone, and must have accounted for dozens of troll lives. It enabled the Anethionian ‘white cloaks’ to enter the temple and search for their comrades while myself, Senator Tjib, Gearholder Tinkerbolt and the Kirin Tor Mage Hunter Olivier Frostgear sought to interrupt a group of troll witch doctors calling down a nightmarish thunderstorm. Mage Hunter Frostgear managed to end the troll spell, but in the process got himself captured and mind-controlled by the troll casters. Having disabled several gnomes and sent the senator flying off into the jungle, he went marauding off towards the top of the temple. I do not yet know what has become of him, or of the fanatic force, as I was primarily concerned with getting the wounded gnomes out of there. I searched the area for the senator, but to no avail. He may or may not be alive.

I have observed this past week that while the Anethionian fanatics are mostly idiots, their faith in the Holy Light grants them ability on the field of battle that should not be underestimated. They have achieved in the vale, with thin numbers and precisely zero tactical awareness, a level of destruction that I would not have thought achievable at the outset. This must, of course, be tempered by the fact that most of it would not have been possible without the gnomish firepower and backup healing, but I suspect this is a detail that will not make it back to Stormwind when the tales are told to the masses. If the fanatics continue to win such victories, they will become popular amongst the people and that would be a very dangerous situation. They make their own rules and cannot be controlled.
Senator Tjib, if he is alive, presents a different problem. He has a first-rate mind and his inventions could provide the technological edge that helps secure a resounding victory over the Horde, but he is cruel and uncompromising in pursuit of this goal, willing to sacrifice the lives of his own staff if necessary without a second thought. Those arguing to give him a long leash should ask themselves what price they are prepared to pay for victory, in terms of the blood and honor of Alliance citizens.
Special mention must be made of two gnomes in particular, Paia Cuddlefork and Mineral Coppersocket, who repeatedly proved themselves to be not only brave but also eminently useful in battle, despite their individual weaknesses. They deserve better than to die in service to Senator Tjib, but I fear that this will be their fate regardless.
I will remain in the vale a while to report on the aftermath of this ill-conceived adventure.
