Re: The vent thread
Though I don't really understand the correlation between moaning and sociology, the answer is: no.
Sociology is casual.
I thought everyone in TGL studied sociology.
Re: The vent thread
I took sociology last term. Studied through film, was very interesting! Then I got to write an essay about a film and use a sociological issue as its focus.
I chose V For Vendetta and addressed the view their society had about homosexuality. It was an awesome essay, I got a 95% on it.

Sociology sounds like an amazing study, though.
Maths, on the other hand, sounds like pure misery.
Well done, Farelin! Could you PM me your essay? I'd love to read it.

I ordered Sociology: The Basics like a year ago and could never be arsed to read past chapter 1. It seems like an interesting subject yeah, but the book was confusing.
Might take maths + further maths at A level. Get like 5hr homework a week. So hardcore.

Don't leave it til the last 1-2 days
What works best for you just depends, I guess. I find reading a page and taking notes works perfectly. You should find some questions to test yourself though, make sure what you do know it accurate.
What science you got? I have additional chemistry on Thursday.

Science 1, the easy one which is why I want a good grade to start with.
I feel for you about Meiosis and Mitosis, I went fully braindead when being taught that.
Also, does any body else have the Guile's theme in their head when doing exams?

Actually, that reminded me of something I picked up from psychology :3 Listen to something on repeat while you revise, and then think about it in an exam. Also make the room you're revising in as much like your exam hall as you can.
Re: The vent thread
Pff, fairly simple subjects!
Backward DNA synthesis is a tough one.

Rofl.
Is osmosis diffusion? Because I've just done two pages on diffusion with no mention of osmosis but they seem to be the same thing. And in a revision list it said we need to know osmosis.

Re: The vent thread
Wikipedia:
Osmosis is the net movement of solvent molecules through a partially permeable membrane into a region of higher solute concentration, in order to equalize the solute concentrations on the two sides. It may also be used to describe a physical process in which any solvent moves, without input of energy, across a semipermeable membrane (permeable to the solvent, but not the solute) separating two solutions of different concentrations. Although osmosis does not require input of energy, it does use kinetic energy and can be made to do work.

I don't think osmosis happens in gasses.
What you could do is heat the knowledge molecules untill you get a gas of wisdom, that should diffuse irreversibly into your brain.

Unfortunately that pic is wrong!
Osmosis tries to balance the concentration of [Info] submerged in [Empty Space] by moving the [Empty Space] From Low concentration of [Info] to a high concentration of [info].
basically, the amount of info in your head doesn't change, just the space around it!
Your head would deflate!
Just like when you put a Cell in Pure water! the water moves to the cell, blowing up the cell!

Re: The vent thread
biochemistry isn't hard per se I think, the concepts aren't really that difficult (or maybe I just haven't reached that lvl yet), it just requires a lot of memorization of 10000 words that all sound exactly the same. a random line from my notes:
PKA phosphorylates and activates phosphorylase kinase which in turns phosphorylates and activates glycogen phosphorylase which then causes the phosphorylsis of a1-4 glycosidic bonds which produces glucose-1-phosphate
I should show off and post something on de novo synthesis of cholestrol. i'd really look smart then ha
And backwards DNA synthesis??? I think you mean reverse transcription you stupid bitch god get your facts straight!!!!

I'm talking about DNA replication, not RNA. Knob.
I had difficulties with the top replication, with the Okazaki fragment.
(In Dutch we call it 'backwards DNA synthesis')

oh ya my dutch friend here was talking about how they took okazaki fragments at school too! thought it was strange since we didn't do them at a levels. but ya we had a slide on them too. they randomly added DNA-stuff to my biochem module just this year which is like 1/3 more material uff
