and I'm in the lab at the other end of the building, so i'm not allowed to walk to my officer and get my coat.

fuck.

all because some idiot busy with the renovation inside the cleanroom accidentally cut the wrong wire.

waiting for the fire-dep, having them check the building etc, etc etc...

17:30 i can finally get my coat and go home.

Oh everything is fine, someone cut the cable for the fire-alarm.(or that's what I heard, I left once the okay clear was given)

I work in a technical electronics lab, with a chem lab attached and a cleanroom.

so basically everything.

we got firehazards to chlorine-gas in our labs, a lot of shit can go wrong.

but i just needed to spend 45 minutes outside in my T-shirt doing nothing until i could get my coat, that's venting!

well.. I am officially pissed off.. the owner of my workplace has been negligent on building maintenance for so long.. someone was eventually going to pay for it in blood.. sure enough after years of money scraping I'm the unlucky bastard that has an industrial light fitting fall off the roof and strike my head! after 2H of the shakes and a shake voice with an intense feeling of tiredness (for which I know is shock of which several hours later im still feeling tired..) Im finally alight aside from a 3cm strip of skin that has been ever so nicely removed by said lightshade..

not gona sue.. thow the owner thinks I am going to sue her,, finally she has got off her fat arse and is paying up for an electrition to fix the damned light.. replacing an industrial fridge with a frayed cable and a char grill which has bad burners..

damned cheapskates

Notice to all of you.. if your going to open a restraunt in a grade 2 listed building.. remember.. buildings of such status require constant and expensive maintanance!!! dambed iddiot boss!!!

I know what you mean about the "culture of litigation", Monrena. But this isn't always the case when it comes to suing for action due to incidents at work (etc) that jeopardise your health.

There's not just the "money aspect". It's also about the message to your employer, and it's about the safety of you and others.

It's not like you're suing because your coffee was hot and you burnt your lip. This is something, potentially, serious.

It's through legal action that a lot of necessary protection and structure gets recognised. It's also through Union action, and Union & legal action!

Then again, I did used to be a rep for a Union... so I would say that.
