Why Theramore was Destroyed, and Jaina, Exalted Heroine or Treacherous Father-killer?
You sit down on your wobbly stool and finger through the pages of a newspaper. Found between the obituaries and the "Looking For Work?" section, you notice this article:
“Why Theramore was Destroyed, and Jaina, Exalted Heroine or Treacherous Father-killer?”
- A publication by reverend Izaiah Walcott
Thereamore Isle, a seaside trading port nestled between the Barrens and Durotar to the north, and Mulgore to the west. Built and fortified by those who fought in the Third War, it stands as a beacon to the sovereignty and might of humans in Kalimdor, exemplifying the spirit of brotherhood and cooperation, and the profound willpower found within the Alliance. For years and years, this stronghold withstood all manner of bombardment; from goblin pirates and Horde ships, to the naga and murlocs. What the isle could not withstand though, are the illusions of grandeur and the reckless disregard for the safety and life of her people, the treacherous father-killer: Jaina Proudmoore.
Lady Jaina Proudmoore, daughter to the reputable sea admiral Daelin Proudmoore, quickly grew accustomed to a life of decadence, lavishness and extreme excess as a young noble girl. Spirited away to the depraved city of Dalaran, she was schooled in the arcane arts from an early age, a venomous craft known to house such notable figures as Kel’Thuzad and Kael’thas Sunstrider.
Doubtlessly, Proudmoore was a charismatic leader. She was able to lead the human infantry and cavalry in the Third War, securing victory for the humans and all of Azeroth. However, her blatant disregard and lack of sense of loyalty and family led her to abandon her father, the famous war hero Daelin Proudmoore, and effectively throw his corpse to be gobbled up by the ravenous Horde.
It is true, she never gave up her craft or her post in Theramore Isle, granting sanctuary to all the refuges of the Alliance. It served as a haven to many, and the inhabitants all believed themselves to be safe within the fortified walls of the stronghold, seduced by Proudmoore’s claims that they were safe from the Horde due to her policy of neutrality with the nearby Horde, a pact that was broken time and time again by their devilish ways. Finally however, after years of biding their time, the ravenous Horde reared its head and executed a final attack, leading to the unfortunate demise of the countless innocent residents of the isle.
Certainly, Proudmoore was a noteworthy sorceress who naturally excelled at her craft, strange for a woman at the time, or perhaps it was her meddling in the arcane affairs that allowed her mind to be befuddled with delusions of power and supremacy that inevitably led to her father’s murder as well as the massacre of the Theramora inhabitants.
Indeed, it was the Light’s holy and benevolent wrath, directed at Proudmoore’s sorcery and continued disloyalty and treachery, finally manifested itself in the form of the Horde’s final attack, that slaughtered the scores of people in Theramore. Without a doubt, if Proudmoore had discontinued her treacherous policies and her meddling in the arcane magics, this great travesty could have been avoided and would not have defiled the pages of human history.
May the Holy Light watch over the blameless souls who died needlessly in Theramore. May the find peace and serenity in the Holy Light's eternal embrace.

OOC: Very nicely written. I could not have done it better myself (would probably have painted a less pretty picture of the Arcane seductress that is Proudmoore ). The post is a bit premature in the light of the events coming Saturday (http://www.defiasrp.com/t5526-w-pvp-event-suggestion-the-theramore-evacuation) - and seeing as I haven't been to Theramore yet, so I cannot ICly acknowledge it at this time . In earlier days, Jon would definitely have enjoyed a chat with the revered reverand Izaiah Walcott ^^

Anaei silently sips her cup of tea, leafing through the paper, frowning as she reaches the page. Her eyes dart over the words as she mouths along then laughs wildly.
"Why am I not surprised? Oh well, if Varian has anything left between his legs he'll have this bastard hanged."
(Lovely to read but wow, didn't see this coming from anywhere at all! Varian will have yer head missy, can't wait to see this guy's reaction to Stormwind wearing black in mourning for Theramore and Jaina hailed as a hero. xD)

Skarain reads the newspaper in her small room, in front of her enchanting table with various research on nearby shelves and a few open book and a dagger on the workbench. A faint smile spreads on her lips as she finish reading.
"There is no miracle unless meditated by a believer". I wonder what was all along her wish to the Light?... *Skarain shakes her head* "She is more heretic than i am. It's so easy to blame others afterwards for the decisions they make..." *Skarain stands up to get breakfast* "hmm... i wonder if he even knew the difference of sorcery and wizardry when writing the article..."
(Obviously this is the reaction 'when' destruction of Theramore have actually happen. Great read regardless, even if my character is merely sad for the writers missguided soul )

Zryse reads through the newspaper, pausing as she reaches the article. Her brows furrowed into a frown of concern, she skims through the words, her tail giving a few short flicks as her mind takes control of her thoughts
"Such a shame, more innocents to be taken by the afterlife. When will the brutality stop? Perhaps Jaina will see now what consequences our choices make. Varian had better think twice before letting her off the hook."

Cid finds a newspaper on the ground, trying to read it for a bit before he notice he holds it upside-down
"Whut be this? Sumthin' 'bout tha' sorcer'woman Proudmoore? Bah, jest 'nuther writin' o' sum loonatic, I bet."
Cid tosses the paper into a fireplace at the nearby inn

Vaell sips at a glass of Dalaran Red as he picks up his morning read, his tailor measuring around his legs. Upon reading the title, he spits out his mouthful, smothering the top of the page. He uses his sleeve to clean it as he reads through the article with widened eyes
"No, no, no! My dear sweet Jaina. How cruel must this world be to put one like her with such ill fate. Simply jealousy from the damn writer. I'll tell him myself. What do you make of this?"
"Oh I don't rea-"
"Ah look, a coupon for a free drink at the Blue Recluse. Splendid!"

Re: Why Theramore was Destroyed, and Jaina, Exalted Heroine or Treacherous Father-killer?
The elderly magus Arenfel sits down at his desk, and opens to the page sporting Iziah's article. His Arcane-infused pupils dim with a deep sense of regret, and perhaps even a loss of faith in the author as he skims the closing lines. In quiet disappointment, he folds the paper to be stored in a drawer to his right.
"Countering his claims would be a waste of time and ink. Any man who calls himself a Reverend - and a brother of the church - who spends his time writing this baleful horse-shite, rather than lend his aid to the victims of such a catastrophe should be ashamed. Hmm, funny. Sounds oddly familiar..."
Arenfel later cuts out the article, and makes an origami sheep out of the paper.
