Amnesia the dark decent

I recently just downloaded this game, got told it was scary as fuck, i don't find it that scary at all, what is the public Opinion of this game?

Lets discuss the game, what makes it so scary for some people, and less for others.

You don't find it scary? Do you have a soul?!

The atmosphere, the lack of weapons, the necessity of light, the feeling when you open a door not knowing what is on the other side..

Amnesia is one of, if not the scariest, game I've ever played.

The problem with it i think is the sound effects and screen effects, you can clearly guess when stuff is happening :s that is just what i encountered so far.

I recently started playing it

EDIT; I encountered the mummy person twice, first time he just broke, second time i threw a chair at him :s and he cloved me to death

Im just waiting until you get to the water part.

I am at the water part fighting off some sort of super hero :s won't let me get through the door :c

Also, i'm not saying that it ain't scary at all, but it just don't have such a big effect on me, ofcourse there is times i think to myself, "should i open that door"

I've wanted to try, but I have no money.

Anybody that says the game isn't scary is either

1: trying to appear edgy and tough
2: isn't playing in the correct atmosphere
3: hasn't played enough of the game
4: is going into the game with the wrong mindset ("i've heard this is so scary, im gonna play it and prove im not scared!")

Every aspect of A:TDD contains qualities that frighten us on a primitive, natural level... darkness, helplessness, loneliness. I was on edge throughout pretty much the entire game. My favourite survival horror game ever (which puts it pretty high up on the list of my favourite game ever) save Silent Hill 2.

Thats one of the scariest parts, but I think the storage room is the scariest part. At least in the water you have some definite way to avoid the monster and stay out of harms way.

I fucking love this game. I'm too scared to finish it.

I played the demo at night, in the dark, with the headset on, alone.

I almost shat myself.

It might be because i am using a laptop though, i must say that when i finished the water room i was sitting with my heart in my neck and on the edge of my chair, :s and this room i got to.... all light with odd noises, also turned the graphic settings up abit, and yes now i see the point of this game... to leave brown marks on the floor =/

EDIT; i just finished the storage with headset and graphic settings at max, fml....

Hahaha. I'm on a laptop too! My friend told me "Only play it alone and in the dark." I played it on skype one day and they were all muted laughing at me, I kept screaming out loud and panicking. The game's brilliant.

I'll never forget my first encounter. I screamed so loud, ran most of the way back through the area I was in and refused to leave the wardrobe for over ten minutes.

I was sitting quietly had to try with head phones on... dammit, it might not be dark, but there is no way in hell i will ever play this when it gets dark D:

Whilst my easily scared friend was playing it, we were making him jump / ruining his atmosphere. This is the vid from his channel! Makes me miss the game.

I played the game for 15 mins before I pussied out. I -cant- handle horror games.

I like watching PewDiePie's Amnesia videos, they're hilarious.

I just discovered, i had to go back to the storage room, and now when i try to get out the creature is in the way, so i threw a hammer at it, and it killed me :C

i should probably thank Ave for showing me this game too

though her doing so has resulted in me being twitchy to any slight sound or movement in my flat!

I played it too, screamed all the way through just like the first video you posted. But I remember hiding behind a door thinking ''He cant get me'' so I stood up to look out the little window and it saw me and bashed down the door ;_;
