Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Agent
In a off-section of the Hall of Arms, not making a big thing of them selves, the agency have their headquarter located. A small, yet steady stream of people can be seen walking in and out of there, the Ironforge centrum of intelligence gathering.
On the porch Director Ivahn Goldfinger is enjoying a pipe of dwarven tobacco, rocking back and forth in his rocking chair
Arkadii wanders around with his nervous deputy. "Y'said he was round 'ere, where is he?" he almost bellows at his assistant, who stutters "T-r-y.. over.. there.. Arkadii.." The grouchy Irondawn stops walking and looks back at his assistant, "It's Senator t'you"
As the pair wander into the off-section of the Hall a guard stops them, suddenly refuting his statement after realizing he is talking to a Senator, a few muttered whispers and the guard points at Ivahn in the distance.
Ivahn, who's been well aware of Senator Irondawns precense for a long time now, is following the entourage with a hint of amusement cornering around the outskirts of his lips.
As they begin to come closer to the steps leading up to the Agency he rises to his feet to greet the senator properly.
The aged Senator approaches Ivahn, having never seen him before he is only amazed to see a similiarly aged dwarf before him. He in turn greets Ivahn and motions for him to sit down, telling his assistant to fetch a chair he quietely props it up under himself and takes a seat right next to Ivahn. The assistant stands there for a moment as he quickly understands that he is not required and scutters off into another part of the hall.
"Director"
The Director, having dealt with a many senators in his time dosen't hesitate when the offer to have a sit is given, happily returning to his pipe puffing. "There is always trouble down the road when a senator seeks the agency out, and not the other way around. Senator Irondawn I dont belive we've had the pleasure of meeting face to face before?"
Ivahn leans forward extending his hand, offering Arkadii a shake.
Irondawn takes the hand and shakes it firmly, nodding at Ivahn as he does so. "No director, we 'ave not, I have spent m'time carin' for the treasury of my clan an' my cousin Gogol has been the one rather active in Ironforge, but troubled times require a stern hand and an iron approach..you understand" Arkadii takes out a flask of whiskey and clicks his fingers calling for his assistant, the rather slow assistant appears after a minute wait and grudgingly brings out two dusty glasses which Arkadi places on the chair. "Whiskey, director?"
"I don't see how a glas could do any harm" Ivahn nods at Arkadii while slowly spinning a subtle opal ring placed on his right hands little finger. An' aye, dae' late Senator Irondawn, I'v 'ad quite a many bump ins with him. My condolences to you an yer' Clans loss." Ivahn corrects his suspenders, not looking to comfortable talking about personal matters.
Arkadii nods and takes out a small handerkechief to wipe both glasses, putting it to the side he then half fills each glass with fine whiskey. He carefully places the flask back in his pouch located insie his belt. "Much appreciated much appreciated, 'e had good intentions fer Ironforge an' did tha' best 'e could, tis sad thoughts". Arkadii seems more at ease as he now takes out a dark brown rectangular box with five well placed cigars and opens it up, again offering one to Ivahn as he takes one for himself.
Goldfinger holds his pipe up, indicating he's just fine with it.
"I suppose so, even though it has never been the Agencies duty to take a stance in the politics of the Mountain. Senators comes and goes, like the gold veins deep inside the stone. We however must remain, and we do so by not taking anybodys side. It's simply for the best.." Ivahn puts his goggles on as a assistant of his comes ut with a document he quietly asks the director to have a look at. "Mhmm, aye, yes it seems to in order.. Put my signature on that."
And the assistant walks away as quikly as he arrived.
"I assume y'know why I'm 'ere, Director" Arkadii says.
"You assume to much Senator. I knew you where comming, and with whom you where comming with, I even know how ye' like yer' mornin coffee.. But I dont know why you are here."
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
The senator nods solemnly as he watches the procedure and takes in what Ivahn has said. "If y'know so much then you are doing your duty, an' I am here to do mine, Director" Arkadii called for his assistant again whom brought him a black portfolio. The portfolio had nothing written on it and did not stand out from any other of it's type, to Arkadii however. His hand dove inside as he snatched out a document and looked over it before passing it to Ivahn.
Ivahn looks like an old crow as he leans over the document, very carefully reading it through..
"A long job, but I better start it now sooner than later" Arkadii mumbles.
"Corruption, the poison of all goverments. But I suppose this is not some minor case of just any minor official being corrupted that has brought the new Senator of Trades attention.."
Ivahn thoughtfully puffs on the pipe before laying it down in a perfecty palced ashtray right to his left. "But I'v been wrong before?"
The Director looks like he has just told a good joke as he finnish.
Arkadii shakes his head.
"Nay Director, this is a case of corruption being, everywhere and integrated to the dwarven system, there has been a Senator missing to oversee this now for many months and without somebody to oversee them, y'know yourself how power consumes ones mind." Arkadii nods thoughfully and takes out another document with lots of various names in different parts of the Kingdom, roughly thirty three names.
"I need information on all of these, date of birth, family, history, what they have for breakfast.."
Ivahn has a short look at the list.
"Some of these are yer' equals, this is the wish then, that even sum' senators shall be controlled? And who are we to report to in such a situation, ye' personally?"
The conundrum seems to bother the director as he gently pulls his beard.
Arkadii shakes his head. "We all report to tha' Council Director, an' so do I. On top o' tha', this is a list of only possible corruption an' may not verify in every place, 'owever where it does.. all information, all truth, all evidence must be presented t'tha' Senate"
Arkadii nods firmly re-affirming what he said.
"An' tha' Senate will o' course bring it to tha' Council o' tha' Three hammers"
Arkadii takes a sip of his whiskey, enjoying the taaste.
"Very well, I suppose it is time we get a bit dirty. Besides mah boys are grown a bit large around the stomache."
Ivahn nods as he takes the paper from Arkadii. "No restrictions?"
"No physical contact..innocent before.. guilty.. or somethin'"
"But as for standing in society, I understand it as there will be no excuses, high as low will be controlled?.. Or are we to see through the fingers somewhere maybe? hmmm.." Ivahn says.
"Nay difference as to who they are, reputable Thanes or even a Senator, corruption an' theft is treason, an' treason is against tha' Law, I'm sure tha' Chancellor an' tha' Seat o' Justice are alrigh' an' dun' have any actual connections to high profile crimes, but if y'have any lead, follow it down.. an' preferably stick t'people in positions capable of doin' damage, officials in control of trading points, outposts, posts, strategic locations tha' are crucial t'Ironforge. We'll start the hunt from the outside an' slowly close tha' circle on tha' corrupt, purging them from within' tha' Kingdom.." Irondawn replies.
Ivahn nods seriously, handing the budle of papers of to his assistant that has been standing waiting in the backround.
"Will this be an' on going inverstigation, sort of new way of conducting work in the realm.. Or shall it be considerd more as an mass raid, maybe hunting down as many as possible in one go, lettin dae' High Judge hold a serious of mass trials?"
Arkadii watches the papers being handed over to the assistant, nodding approvingly. He remains silent for a moment before speaking. "It's goin' t'be an' ongoing investigation, an' when we're sure we 'ave everybody it will be finished with a simultaneous removal an' raid followed by several trials an' tha' handing ou' of punishment, 'owever, hopefully I will begin work on passing legislation t'allow a verdict t'be handed down on tha' spot, an' as such we can bring several temporary judges with us t'punish those caught in a quick raid an' give 'em their sentence if u'understand my meaning Director. It is a slow process an' one we must be careful and delibarate about"
Arkadii has a serious look on his face and eyes Ivahn, inspecting him for any emotional rection or response.
"Should we strike t'early tha' crafties an' most intelligent criminals will escape undoubtedly, an' we will continue 'aving problems within tha' Kingdom"
Ivahn, hiding behind his giant goggles reveals little emotions at all as he takes what Senator Irondawn just has said.
"There sure is sumthing abou' ye Irondawn's, ye' get things done. The system o' judges has indeed been flawed for years.. I will put some of my best men on the case right away, may I suggest the outer trading posts around the Wetlands an' Loch Modan being suitable places tae' begin?"
Arkadii nods in solemn agreement. "Begin immedietely, none will escape tha' law o' Ironforge an' none will go unpunished!"
Arkadii lights up his cigar and inhales deeply, letting the smoke go into through his lung and tasting the perfect taste of the fine tobacco. "Are we at an agreement of what t'do then, Director?"
Goldfinger again slowly twirling his ring looks at Arkadii before giving him a stern nod.
"For the good of Ironforge and Khaz'Modan, no one will go safe fer' now.. Tae' begin wit' right away, I would like to make a request tae' you senator, one that the agency has done before.."
Ivahn leans forward, emphizising the importance of his words.
"If all citizens in the Kingdom where forced to report in to the Ironforge guard, them taking reports on occupation, age, sexual preference, sieze o' their feet.. An' outside the city, we could schedule times for when an' outsent envoy to take these reports would arrive, asking all villagers in dae' area to be present that day, facing severe punishment would one fail to do so.." Ivahn is by now staring Arkadii down.
"I belive ye' can see the benefits in it, Senator Irondawn?"
The Senator looks directly back at Goldfinger with a piercing stare, as if he can see right through the goggles and out the back of his head. Pondering upon the proposal, "Tha' is somethin' tha' would be required t'be brought before tha' Senate, I alone cannae authorize as large as this, but in theory I agree with ye', a necessary precaution t'weed out tha' saboteours o' tha' Kingdom, a precaution tha' need not last long an' only durin' this 'hunt' for tha' undesirables o' tha' State". Arkadii puts his cigar down, 'owever, tha' motives must be clear as the conspiracy theorists might see this as a step t'far an' not as a requirement".
"I will approach tha' Senate about this, an' I expect y'to be there too Director"
Arkadii picks his cigar up again and continues chugging on it
Ivahn shifts around a little in his seat.
"If I'am requested tae' dae' Senate in person, I always heed the call. Bu' I dont have to like it. The security aspect is ae' standin joke, an' I'v forgot the numbers o cuthroats that would delight at the chanse gettin at me. But if it is the senators wish, I shall be present at next weeks session. It must be clear though, that this request is by the senate, not the agency." He clears his throat.
"Would anyone to belvie it was the other way around, they could be startin to look for shadows where they should not."
Arkadii looks at Ivahn before slowly speaking, "A closed session of tha' Senate can also be arranged, I have a feeling some of what we are t'discuss is nay for publci ears..."
Ivahn nods eagerly.
"It is very nice to meet a senator with some initiative, fer change.."
He leans back, folding his arms. "Name place an' time an' we shall make it work."
Arkadii nods once. "I will inform y'by letter of when we are t'meet after I request the presence o' tha' chancellor an' other senators"
Ivahn gets to his feet, again offering Senator Irondawn another handshake.
"Pleasure meeting you, senator."
Arkadii stands up casually and snaps his fingers again, calling for his assistant. He eagerly takes the hand of Ivahn and shakes his hand firmly nodding again. "Likewise Director". Arkadii nods at Ivahn once again and steps down from the porch, he mutters a few words to his assistant who nervously nods at him and they set off, away from the hall of arms.

Re: Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Agent
This was one long and hard read. Must be becasue i don't usually follow the happening around that region. And i couldn't help to not imagine the people talking there to be humans similar on that posted picture, instead.
I'm not 100% sure but the dwarves trade with other races too, don't they? If so i wonder if it means they would go further than their borders with the investigations. Either way it'll be interesting to see.
