There is one argument in favor of these idiots though... My university taught me the most crucial aspect of science and the free mind is a critical mind. As they said "the solid logical argument of an individual weighs heavier than a thousand voices who just accepted what they were told". My university proved adamant and borderline fanatical when it came to applying this critical mind on religion. I rarely saw them apply it on science.

It's funny when you see two "oldies" discuss over coffee how even the critical minds of scientists is no longer valued in science. One of them said: "I can win any argument.. Not because I'm right, but because I know more. People will follow my opinion, not because it makes sense, but because I published more. I'm no longer capable of thinking out new revolutionary theories, but I'll be the judge of new people because of my knowledge. My knowledge, which helped me to publish in the past has now become a bagage and a burden, whose weight only helps me to smite down a newcomer who still has the critical mind I lost."

But yeah.. those two oldies.. they weren't researchers at the university. At my university, science was a religion, and anyone being critical about it was talking bullshit and had lost his common sense.

Yup.. critical minds alright.

If there's one thing my Catholic school ( Societas Iesu S.J. in case you wonder which order.) tried to teach me is that a critical mind and becoming human are two of the most important things in life.
