The Path of a Traitor - Chapter II - The Masquerade

Flowerpicking... Felitzia had to giggle by the sheer stupidity of it all. Here she was, in the middle of nowhere, preparing for an Epic ritual to bring back the dreaded Black Knight of Tirisfal.. And they were picking flowers! Essences collected by terrible Ooze, The rarest flowers in all of the world. But still, they were only flowers and essences. Felitzia peered at Darjee, all covered in black and green ooze, and couldn't hold back her laugh. "Well," he said "Atleast you know how to find joy in even the darkest times." He too laughed. Oh what a pair they were. The best of friends, tied together by a debt for life. How could she have wished him dead? When by his sheer existance he made her days a little brighter.
They sat down on a hill, and went through the list. they lay out the components and checked off everything they had. "Bonefragments, Plaguebloom, Arthas' Tears, Grave Moss, Essence of Life, Essence of Undeath..." She sighed as she read the last point on the list. "A fragment of his soul... That will be harder to obtain..." They sat quietly contemplating a while, before Darjee came with an idea. "Sinclair and Rasonal are the ones who murdered him. Sinclair has the Soul Shard for safekeeping. If we could get to him, we could get the Shard!" Felitzia nodded, seeing a brilliant opportunity to get back at Sinclair for his mockery against her. "Yes... we will disguise ourselves, and get him to give it to us. Inquisitor he may be, but I still have a few tricks of my own up the sleeve." She grinned at Darjee and hastily gave him a hug. The events were starting to unfold, the time drew ever closer. Soon, Everything would stand or fall by their actions. Which way the tide would turn, she dared not even think about. Not now. Not when she had a glimpse of happiness again. It was a morning with a brightly shining sun, Darjee would soon have his friend and mentor back, she would have her sweet sweet revenge, and the Cult would once again bask in the glory of Nassulra. Yes, today was a good day indeed. They packed up the flowers, and headed back to the Undercity. They had to prepare for the evening's meeting with the Cult.
Felitzia did her best to keep up the fascade, but she could sense Darjee being on edge every moment they were with the other Cultists. He even got into a fight with Brother Thenkar! They tried to relax, tried to play a game of "Rot", invented by the very amusing Brother Rötger. Felitzia laughed and played, but her inside was burning. She could sense Rasonal's eyes on her. He was ever watchful of her actions and words. Merely waiting for the right time to strike with his little comments and mockery. She hated him... Whenver she looked at him she could hear the sore cries of a child, writhing in agony. By the Shadow she hated him. But she would have her revenge. "Soon Rasonal... Soon I will have you at my feet, begging forgiveness for the pain you have caused me..." Her thoughts were interrupted by Rötger pulling at her arm. "It's your turn Sister. Throw the dice." She threw the dice and played along, it was a high number, she had to remember to cheer. Little by little, the group dispersed, and Felitzia, Darjee and Dieter were the only ones left. She much appreciated the company of Dieter... He was always so kind to her. And she felt a little sorry for the tormented man who lacked the ability to speak. Darjee knew this. Knew that She and Dieter were close. So he decided to let him in on the secret they had tried to hide so well. However, he did not anticipate that Dieter held a stronger loyalty to the Prophet than to anyone else. Dieter threatened to expose them, threatened to bring them to the Prophet! Felitzia had to think fast, so she tore herself a path into his mind, and broke his will. His pain was unbearable and she near wept at the look of his eyes. So full of sadness, so betrayed and broken. Never, would she have wished to see her beloved Brother like this. "Please Brother, try to understand. This is bigger than any of us. It needs to be done. The pain will end soon... I promise" He spat at her. Filled with rage he lunged at her. She quickly tugged the invisible string she had attched to his mind, and he fell before her feet, clawing the ground with his hands, shrieking in pain. Felitzia looked up at Darjee, her eyes begging him sorely. "We should hurry Brother. I will not keep him like this for long." Darjee nodded, and they set off to find Sinclair. The Shard would be theirs by the end of the night.
Equipped with costumes, the trio sought to find Sinclair in Undercity. He was easily found, and easily fooled by their lies of a family treasure they needed help to find. As they lured Sinclair into the sewers of their beloved city, Felitzia's mind churned. This was wrong.. this was all wrong. No matter what he had done, Sinclair was still her Brother! "We are all Children of Shadow..." She muttered guiltilly before focusing all her efforts on weakening the defenses he'd built up around his mind. Bit by bit they weakened, as Darjee started asking about the Soul Shard. Sinclair, having no idea who they were, or what they really wanted, stood confused. Still though, his cocky behaviour came shining through. He gloated at them, mocking... Teasing... "Yes," Felitzia thought "keep acting like that and you will only ensure that forgiveness can not be found. Your lack of Respect will be your undoing Inquisitor!" She closed her eyes and focused every last bit of her power to penetrate his defenses. Finally she was starting to break through! Finally his hand that had clutched the strangely glowing red Shard jolted open, and the Shard was thrown into the air. Felitzia followed it's spin through the air, and into the pool of putrid blighted water. Her attention turned away from Sinclair for just a moment, but it was all it took, for him to regain control of himself. He ordered his Felguard to charge at her, and she barely dodged the attack. Dieter stepped inbetween the Demon and herself, just in time to avoid her being shredded to pieces. Sinclair glared angrily at the trio, before he ran off. Clearly aware that he was outnumbered.
Still in shock after the demon's charge, Felitzia's eyes turned to Dieter. "Why... why did you do that Brother? You could've easily let him kill me, and you'd be free from the pain." She looked at him, curious. Dieter gritted his teeth and snarled back at her. His voice echoing through her mind. "I want the pleasure of your death for myself..." He said. She shuddered. Well aware that the revenge of the betrayed Brother would be everything but pleasant. Darjee helped her back to her feet, and they started searching the water in silence. The acidic contents of the water, slowly chewing away at their skin. Felitzia whimpered at the pain of the burning acid, but kept on searching. They had to find the Shard! Finally she felt, more than saw, the dim glowing of the Shard. As she reached out to pick it up, her head filled with whispers... screams... She held the Shard close to her ear, and she could almost sense his touch on her cheek. Could almost hear him calling for her. Darjee held out his hand, and she reluctantly gave him the Shard. It was if she was giving away a piece of herself...
