Lor'themar Theron: In the Shadow of the Sun (New short story)

It's not new. It was released years ago. It was the winner of the 2008 Creative Writing competition.

Due to being 4 years old, this also means the story is pre-Wrath. It does not give an update to Lor'themar's current doings at all.


Blizzard was extremely lazy in this one, and I feel sorry for the Belves. They didn't get a 'new' story at all.

"I am here on matters of utmost importance—ones that concern us all. I am quite sure you are aware of the reason the Kirin Tor have relocated to Northrend."

"Malygos, yes," Lor'themar answered. "What is it you want?"

So yeah, that right there should have been a bit of a hint to the date of the story.

Just need the Draenei story.

If that one is situated around there, then it is obvious, the draenei and belf area's are in a time distortion.

Back then it was a winning story for the fanfiction competition... this.. basically means it has been canonised...

Still fairly disapointing that they don't have a story of actually new information.

Such a shame then. I wasn't aware. Lazy Blizzard strikes again. I was aware it wasn't set in Cataclysm but still. Thought it may have been something interesting or new. For example Rise of the Horde or The last Guardian.

I think it at least gives us a good look at what it's supposed to be like with regards to the Sects of SMC. Occasionally I get into OOC conversations about who actually leads the Blood Knights. Some say they're autonomous, some say they follow Lor'themar directly whilst Halduron takes the Farstrider and Rommath takes the Mages, but I think this just about covers any inconsistencies:

Rommath said. He sighed heavily. "I will notify Lady Liadrin and Magister Bloodsworn of your decision, Regent Lord. I will report back to you with their preparations." He left without another word, his shoulders hunched.

So, at least according to this story, despite the Blood Knights now getting their power from the Sunwell and becoming somewhat independent... The Magisters* still lead the Blood Knights...

Albeit, for RP sake, allowing them to run autonomously.

*It could just be the Grand Magister running the BK's war efforts, leaving Liadrin (loltifflol) in charge for day to day running... But at the same time, he did mention Magister Bloodsworn. I guess it all comes down to what's fun to RP.

The Magisters created the Blood Knights, I cannot imagine them forgetting a loophole where the Blood Knights cannot be controlled by Rommath. It's Lady Liadrin who is the Nr. 1 Blood Knight, but I suppose she does not speak directly to Lor'themar. She was in the Blood Knight HQ before patch.. something where she was moved to Shattrah. She did not reside with the other two "advisors".

The Blood Knights don't strike me as being officially under the command of Rommath. I think he was just taking the responsibility of notifying Liadrin of the mobilization since she weren't present.

Magister Astalor Bloodsworn is somewhat of a weird one. He is a proud supporter of the Blood Knights.... -points at tabard- Yet he does carry the title Magister.

Not only that, only this quest that I dug up when I went to WoWpedia when entering the name Magister Bloodsworn..

The last sentence in the first part of the letter does strike as "When we magisters get a budgetcut, you will be the first one to notice it".

no, read your sig, you spell lauch instead of laugh On topic (sort of): I just noticed Lor'Themar looks like a deformed dwarf in the illustration going with the advertisement for the story in the launcher.

I think Magister Bloodsworn's interactions with the blood knights can be explained with that while the Blood Knight Order is directly under the authority of the Regent-Lord, they relied on the magisters to drain power from M'uru for them (or at least maintain the setup that allowed Blood Knights to drain M'uru).
