I enjoy Pink Floyd, I enjoy Primus, Kasabian, coldplay, The black keys and the list goes on. But I enjoy each in a different way. Some songs just cheer you up and but a bright tune in your head, whereas other songs make you think of things, which I find enjoyable. Then there's thr other kin of music where I just go 'what the f-..' at the lyrics and instrumentals most of the time: My personal favorite..

In the end we all listen music to enjoy us. Some listen to it to cheer up, others to drool at the awesomeness of a certain vocalist/instrumentalist, and yet others listen to it for the 'experience'. In the end our favorite music amuses us all.

thow i thnk i have missed the majority of this convo allow me to pitch in I would say there are 3 categories of bands

1 those who do it for the pleasure of others : usually people of the older rock genera
2 those who simply enjoy making music : this has a large range ranging from people like Eminem to marlin Manson
3 manufactured crap : the likes of this is shit spewed from tv shows like X factor.. bands that are put together from relativity talent less people for there looks only and advertising sex to get sales

category i periodically hate.. it gives the weakest blandest most specific type of music.. nearly all of it is about sex drugs and/or violence and is created purely to separate the average punter from his hard earned cash and is not done for the pleasures of the listener this is where the other two categories vary as they in part are done for eather fan gratification or self fulfillment... the latter.. only for those so desperate to be famous that they would make themselves into willing gullible pawns.. take for example.. S club 7 where are they now? spice girls? only one is still in the limelight due to being fortunate of marrying one of the biggest footballers in years.. steps where they gone.. need I say more?

Imo, most music is art (unless it's something Ark Music Factory shat out on a daily basis). People who sit down, put effort and time into making music they like and they want to share it with the world, it's something I can respect. While I might not like the genre, Im not going to say "It's shit". Because, hey, who am I to tell what is good or bad? Im just as opinionated as the next guy.

The limitations of chiptunes/midis are also part of the charm.
People worked around the limitations, some even applied certain chips to the NES cartridges to expand the music quality a bit, one I can think of right at hand is Journey to Silius. Just to get that extra little touch on the sound.

Agreeable, most gamers are the ones listening to such music, but that's not because they're gamers. It's because they've heard the music and find it appealing.
People who don't play video games may still enjoy the music a great deal, just that they have not been introduced to it and does simply not yet know of it.
That's certainly not the same thing as disliking.

DONT JUDGE ME! It is a good song... I heard it on the TV and thought I would post it here... I dont like most Barry Manilow songs. Could it be magic is quite good tho....
