gmod tf2 servers not responding

hay I have the most random problem..it is this
i am unable to play garrys mod or teamfortress 2 on the multiplayer servers..
whenever I click on the servers to join i get the dialog box saying "server not responding" even if people are on the server playin
if i refresh the server list... all the servers will dissapear and wont be seen untill i restart the games..
I have tried all internet settings for steam.. in all other settings other than the current... no servers ever show
if i manualy connect via consol with server ip it tells me "connection failed after 4 retries"

all this happend immediatly after an update to gmod
i have tried re installing gmod... no luck
I have tried deleating all gmod addon folders... no luck
i varified game files, defraged etc.. no luck

does anyone have any ideas on how this can be fixed? i spent nerly 5 hours searching the steam forums last night and the equivilent time on other forums.. Any help would be Very much apreciated

I used to like their support, regarding issues I had with some games, but lately I was getting problems with Hammer Editor and it turns out they don't support Source SDK issues.
Helpful to their development community, my arse.

It's the Source engine. The quality has been dropping for a steady few months now. Heck, I can't even find a TF2 server these days cause all of the servers I try to join are not responding.
No idea why it's doing this, the Source engine is messing with all games that has to do with Source. Left 4 Dead (2), TF2, Gmod, Half-Life 2: DM, CS:S and the lists goes on.

Might not help you fix it, but that's what's causing it.

Just found this topic. Just curious does any one still play garrys mod? Would love to have a game with you guys and make some random stuff or some left 4 dead 2

I'm in the Gmod 13 beta.
Things are pretty much the same but with nicer UI and limited L4D/Portal 2 support.

Steam has one of the worst support systems I've ever come across in anything. They're cheap and unmatched on prices, so I can't complain too much but because they have minimal staff they ignore half the requests sent to them. My half life 2 and all of its expansions suddenly dissapeared from my Steam library, they said "Do you have the receipt?" I said no, I was bought it as a gift over a year and a half ago. They said "Nothing we can do." C**ts!

Well I found them far more useful than Blizzard support.
Uber support has been the most useful for me so far, especially given the company is only made up of about 20 people.

You're some good five years too late for my taste! I had a grand Garry's Mod career for five years and I most likely wouldn't even be on these forums without that. Good times...
