You don't know half of it. I bought my stocks early this year. Then the tsunami hit Japan, then Australia got hit by an earthquake (the company I'm invested in has a big division there apparently), then comes the Arab Spring which generally wasn't good for markets, then we have the EU trying to solve the debt problems between spring and summer, then we have the US nearly defaulting in August, and now, now we have this shit with Greece (sort of again, I might add)
Not to mention problems with French banks earlier this year, and a lot more. The net result is that I'm now very much thinking that my stocks will have lost 50% of their value by the end of this week. 50% measuring from the day I bought them, that is. Today's panic showed no sign of ending by the end of the day, I think my stocks will lose another 5-10 percent of the worth they have today, tomorrow. They were close to being worth 50% a month ago too, they rose again, but we didn't have the Greek government thinking that SOMEHOW it would be a good idea to have a referendum! ....Ugh.
All we need now is the real estate bubble in China popping and the world economy is going to hell completely.

And idiotic Eurozone leaders. Your measures aren't working and you're going to allow Greece or another one of the PIIGS to break up the euro this way.
Sorry to hear that. However:
I'm all for the worlds economic markets collapsing, if it's bad enough we may finally see the end of the reckless and irresponsible form of capitalism the world has had to endure for far, far too long!

Every system of governance is retarded.
Capitalism is terrible, but so far it's the best we've got. Every other attempt at something different has failed utterly

I'm not anti-capitalism Per Se, as you say it's the best on offer. (I do have a better way, but that's for when I take over the world and you all bow down to me.) However I believe it needs to be far better controlled than it currently is and far more regulated.
There is something essentially and fundamentally wrong with a system that allows a tiny percentage to control a massive majority of all the worlds wealth.

Re: The vent thread
The problem with non capitalistic systems is that people are selfish and will in most of them not be content with what they get. Thus they are far more prone to be challanged. Compared to Capitalism where people at least have the illusion, if smart the possibility, to get what they want.
I do agree that it needs to become a bit more controlled, but if you strangle it to much you also make people unwilling to move around to much, or unable.
The worst things that happen in our economy is when money just sits in one place and doesn't change hands.

At the moment it pretty much is, or not moving around enough, generally going to and from the same people over and over again. When you think 90% of companies are partly or fully owned by the top 20 corporations..... It's easy to see where we have gone wrong.
Again, I don't fall into the anti-capitalist attitude completely, but something needs to be done.

Re: The vent thread
Well, few regulations tend to be good for economic growth. However, there need to be certain regulations to ensure shit does not hit the fan. A good example of this would be the Glass-Steagall Act which was in effect in the United States until late 1999. Quite a few regulations make it harder to do business somewhere for very few actual benefits. This is bad for job growth, which obviously is essential for a healthy economy.
However, unlike what Republicans might want Americans to believe, too much regulations is not the problem with America. America can benefit from less regulations, they have a point there, but they're losing far, far more jobs due to a lack of consumer demand. Something which is, I believe, tied directly to the debt American consumers have gotten themselves into. American consumers need to start consuming again, they need to feel like they can do this, which most likely will mean that they'll need to get out of debt. This means that they'll be saving their money to pay down their debt, which is bad for the American economy. Once the American consumer starts consuming again, the world economy will become healthy again. They're the motor of the world economy, make no mistake about that.
Europe's problem is, I believe, much more of a sovereign debt problem. Not to say that the United States doesn't have it either, but their problem are their consumers and also their unemployment rate. Many European countries have it much better when it comes to citizens and unemployment.
Anyway, are more regulations needed? In some places, yes. In other places it might be prudent to remove them. Laissez-faire economics can make economies roar in good times, but they can create hell in bad times. What we need is regulation to protect consumers and to keep the system from 'collapsing' as we saw in the Great Recession. No more than that.
I think it might be obvious that I have very little problems with capitalism and few people having much wealth
On a sidenote, gold is a great investment but might be a bubble that'll pop once the economy becomes healthy again. Also, I don't have an intricate understanding of economics, but I have read a bit about it and watch the news and developments in the financial world for obvious reasons.
Also, if anyone wants to know about the financial meltdown, I highly suggest watching Inside Job. Great documentary.
Edit: Where did you get that 90% figure? I've never seen it before but it would be interesting to read about!
Edit2: The Greeks are having a vote of confidence on Friday. WHY?! FOR FUCK SAKE WHY?! That is not what we need right now, not at all. My stocks are going entirely into the gutter on Friday it seems >.>

It was a study, it's obviously heavily influenced by the fact Banks often invest taken a share in businesses which does screw the figures somewhat, I shall have a look and see if I can find it again.
And the Greeks are silly, no idea why they were allowed into the Eurozone.

They were allowed in partly due to falsified figures and partly because none of the euro-countries wants someone to look too closely at any nation's figures.
Out of all the Euro-nations, only germany actually succeed at staying under the limitations for debt and deficit. If the greeks hadn't been allowed in on those grounds, noone would have been.

Not to mention the rich countries, like germany and the netherlands, needed countries like greece to stop deflating their currency constantly so that our export could boom.

Ever dislocated your kneecap before?
I dislocated mine last night, was painful as hell, but the good part was that I remained entirely calm, even more calm than everyone around me. As soon as I got to the hospital I had to wait 20mins for anyone to give me any attention, but once a nurse came in, she pumped me full of Morphine and Stesolid(Diazepam).
Still, hurts as fucking hell!

I've never fully dislocated my knee(s). I've only felt them almost fully push out of their setting then snap back in. I feel your pain.
Walking around with a knee that's 1dm bigger than regular due to swelling is not fun. (You don't really walk either.)

Actually, Germany didn't. The treaty of Maastricht sets a limit of 60% on sovereign debt and a maximum deficit of 3% (though one is allowed to have it close to 3%).
It entered into force on 1 November 1993.
http://www.gecodia.com/Germany-Public-Deficit--Germany-Government-Gross-Debt-Germany_a1901.html
I believe these numbers to be correct. Germany has been in violation of the treaty almost every year since 1997. They've gone beyond the 3% rule a couple of times as well, notably in 2003. What is an acceptable deviation from the 3% rule is something I don't know. I would personally put it at a third of a percent. Not to say Germany did bad every year, they've had budget surpluses too.

Well, due to acting incredibly fast and efficiently, my knee hasn't swollen that much, and I'm able to walk - And that snap feeling, I've had it for years, but this is the first time my kneecap pops out

Bennedict.
I'm no expert but from the sounds of things I'd get to a doctor and ask to have your Meniscus muscles and cruciate ligaments checked, sounds like the same problem I was having for a while, and my meniscus was very close to breaking and taking my ACL with it from playing too much football and rugby and doing nothing about it when I had pains.
As I said, i'm no expert but just sounds very similar.

I'm due back in a week to follow up on my knee to do a full exam, x-ray, probe and shizzle. They'll probably check it while they're at it, but thanks for the advice
