This matter is being rather over stated by alarmists, radicals, farmers looking to improve their proffits and writers trying to sell their rather poor worksmanship by any means. I mean the harvest is still being, harvested by the light! It is very much out of order to judge quantity when the crops are a foot deep in the Kingdoms fine, fertile soil.

Yes, it was a hot dry season, but that is summer after all. My department are investgating the reason for the slight reduction in rain fall and if it is required an enquiry will be launched; but at this point it is wrong of me to comment further.

Reports so far indicate that the harvest is slightly disappointing, but I stress, these reports lag behind the harvest by at least a week! It will be a fortnight until the true picture emerges. Until then, ignore the doomsayers and radicals who wish to undermine the king.
