For historical fiction DEFFINATLY
Jean M Auel, the Eartchildren series:
- Clan of the cavebear
- Valley of horses
- The mammoth hunters
- The plains of passage
- The shelters of stone
- The land of painted caves.
They have sold so many copies already its insane. I LOVE the books and the way its described and the incredible detail put into it to give it a real good touch of our past. Be it historical correct or not.
What I also reccomend fantasy wise.
- Angel by LA Weatherly
- The prophecy of stones by Flavia Bujor

I have that one in my possession and am currently reading it, but its only released in hardcover, it will take a year before the pocket paperback is released

The Farseer Triology by Robin Hobb. Starts with Assassin's Apprentice.
Reason I recommend it is because it has down to earth, involving and realistic storytelling. The main character gets abused and go through some pretty dark tragedies. And never towards the end there is this sudden Deus Ex Machina were the hero suddenly has a stunning revelation and ends up saving the day. And did I mention he gets whipped through the entire novel?

Sounds like something you'd like Ais
I read the books about fitz chevalric by Hobb, didn't really like the writing so never picked up any more of her books.

Ho'kay.
Well I really like The Twilight series but I'm only up to New Moon so, I dunnnoo >w<, Team Jacob! Yeah! really like how vampires and werewolves are so cool in these books and Bella, she's really relateble and has a great personality, fiery, independant.
Also reading Fifty Shades of gray!! really enjoying it, Fifty reminds me a lot of Edward, being all dark and mysterious and handsome. I read it for the story.
HUGE FAN of the Warcraft Novels, some great lore in there! Rhonin going back in time was really cool! and I love how unique and powerful his character is!
So yeah, any of those!
Here's a few links!

Rubicon: The Triumph and Tragedy of the Roman Republic. Tom Holland wrote it and it is a masterpiece of narrative history. It's not just tells the history of a timeframe, but it is an actual story. It's very accessible, I recommend it to anyone who likes a good story and/or history.

I must say I do find it amusing how every single person on this earth soon have heard of, likes, is reading or is stunned by the beautiful writings on the triology of Fifty Shades of Grey, it does make me wonder though, if people realise what they -are reading - XD Now I dont know what people do like to read (except fantasy related stuff obviously ) so I will make a wild suggestion here:
If you like reading something that will move you, possibly even make you contemplate for days without the book itself being a hard read..
The Fifth Child is then the book for you.

most people aren't aware they're reading BDSM fan-fiction no...
but then, i guess that's good news for all the erotic fanfiction writers out there. change some names, and sell 15 million copies.
;D

Indeed^_^ In ways I find it good. Its not like BDSM is any different (in my eyes) then the concept of "do you like sushie or do you like meat.." Just finding it very much amusing seeing (dont get me wrong here) the supposed "ordinary" people reading that or debating it all over town However I now got another suggestion for you (not kinky though), Sarah's key and the snow child.
Re: recommend me some books :P

If fantasy? Then "The Deed of Paksennarion" I've just finished reading it and quite enjoyed it. The one I have is three books in one. "The Sheepfarmer's daughter" "Divided alliegance" and finally "Oath of gold". It may fill the cliche of elves, dwarves and humans but for a book that was finished by the mid 80's I think it can excuse itself.
It follows a girl called Paksennarion Dorthansdotter who was to be forced into marriage by her father but completely evades it and runs from home to join a merc company. Ultimately it's a long journey on her path to wanting to become a gird's chosen paladin of legend. She goes through many trials on her journey and I quite enjoy the way she is portrayed in a not overly "heroic" manner.

It is more or less classy porn rather than rooted in any realism. Plus it is written poorly and the protagonist does not follow the principles of Informed consent or SSC.
I think the book might be of mixed value to the BDSM community, attracting in fantasists and not really doing much to further the goals of the bdsm communitys.

Someone already mentioned Bernard Cornwell. I'd second that, not only the Warlord series but anything else too for historical fiction.
Also, if you want to save on space, get a Kindle.
