Computer Issues - can't play

To all concerned....that would probably mean Aislin, Rhebeca, Valerias, Jehorius and some others...

My computer is on the deathbed; everytime I start anything requirng a mediocore ammount of graphics, it glitches and crashes the comp. So, I won't be around for 'a while'! That also means that I can't come to the eclipse tonight *cry*

Sounds like a graphics card issue, although if it was entirely fried, you wouldn't be able to even run windows. Have you checked its drivers recently?

My card is so CRAPPY that there are no driver-updates since 2008. and it crashes while running windows too, but more like in ~30 minutes.

Have you tried contacting systems support.




No in all seriousness though, it sounds as though it could be 1, or a combination of 3 things:

1) your card is very old and needs replacing.
2) there's alot of dust sitting on the card.
3) outdated drivers, as Mandui has pointed out.

3) drivers ARE outdated and irreplacable
2) I cleaned the dust not long ago
1) most likely

If all you're wanting to do is play WoW, then you could get away with buying a new card in the price range of £50-£100 (though you won't be able to run the game on ultra and have smooth fps).

thanks for advice, I was already slowly preparing to buy a new comp anyway...looks like it is a sign to hurry. But nay, I also want to run some strategies and modern RPGs. so I am building around running things like MEII/SCII on above-average.

I am trying to revive my old computer. So old that its stuck and system-recovery didn;t work. So far good dosage of Format-C and pirated windows is doing the magic.

I had a computer fault myself just the othernight. My LG W1934S monitor decided it should go into power save mode every few seconds upon switching it on. Hence I couldn't use the PC. Now I got some shitty big fat old times sake monitor to rely on until I can get my LCD one sorted ._..
