Need to speak to shaman players

Alright peeps, that time has come once more.

I need to speak to shaman players, whether horde wither alliance, because I want to know what do you guys actually do IC? How do you play a Shaman? What do they do in their daily lives, and where do you RP? The stuff like that.

Depends! It's very open to creativity. On my former shaman, she wandered the cities and rested by water, milled herbs, greated friendly-ingredented potions and generally just acted hippy, She was a Draenei though. her " Bloodlust " was sort of a very bad lecture. I often Rp shamans focusing on one element and that affecting their personality and every day life, a warrior of air may race around and look for trouble, whilst a seer of water may relax and offer wisdom.

Im planning to make a dwarven shaman being more or less a kind of berserker with ties to the elements ^_^
Going to commune with the spirits and then eat some mushroom and rage into battle!

Eat some mushrooms = get drunk with beer, right?

I find shaman to be quite an interesting class to RP myself, even though I don't have any "real" shaman I currently RP as. Since Blizzard's lore leaves plenty of gaps for personal improvisation, you're quite open to a wide variety of practises and ways of life and such, I'd say.

It's fun, leads to some more honest RP. You tend to avoid battles and aggression, it's more meditation or spirit guideing those upset.. y'know gypsy shit >.>

yeah yeah, but in warhammer those goblins ate the mushrooms and went fucking insane, it reminded me to them, thats all

My shaman is a mechanical construct made by Grufftoof to harness small amounts of elemental energy to see if it is possible to power a larger (more questionable ethically) device.

So, in effect, Sprokkit is simply a motor and gears powered by some totems (a wind farm, a geothermic generator, a solar panel and a hydrodam).

Or something. So, possibly not very helpful. Especially as when I remember, Sprokkit doesn't even speak in Orcish (or Troll).

Roleplaying a Shaman is fairly tricky, probably more so than any other class. There are a lot of unwritten rules, as well as a large amount of backstory. As much as I hated Thrall's Mary Sue-dom in Lord of the Clans, you should read that book, its entire middle portion is dedicated to Thrall learning the ways of the Shaman.

A Shaman is a conduit, a way for the Elements to influence the physical world without the need for elementals tearing the place up. Shamans serve the elements, never the other way around, is important to remember, and their powers are one of two things at any given time; a) A means granted to them by the Elements to allow them to carry out their tasks, or b) A reward for their dedicated service.

It is very rare to have a genuinely 'evil' Shaman since they are dedicated in their very nature to preserving elemental balance, but Fel Orcs for example have been shown to have Shamans as well. I'm not sure if this implies they use the corrupt elements of Outland, or if they really are just regular shamans able to use their powers for ill (And I know they use their powers for ill, being part of the Dragonmaw clan).

Ultimately the details depend on what race the shaman is, as Orc, Tauren and Troll shamans are all very different from one-another, not to mention Draenei and, eventually, Dwarves.
