The Aislinghall Garden Party
On the eleventh of September at twenty bells of the evening, Lady Aestra and Lady Sylvera of the noble and honoured Aislinghall family will host a garden party on the lawn of their Stormwind mansion. The paper and inks for the invitations have been chosen, fine wines and meats from the far reaches of the world ordered, and no expense spared to decorate their small but tasteful abode for the event!
'What do you think about the colour?' Sylvera turned around slowly, her bare feet sinking into the thick weave of the expensive rug that graced the floor of the Aislinghalls' upstairs sitting room.
The gown, trim, elegant and perfectly suited for an summer evening party, was of a deep cerulean blue. Sylvera brushed a hand across the overlayer of silk, looking up at Aestra with an anxious smile.
Aestra surveyed the way the cloth hung her sister's figure with a critical eye, motioning for her to turn around again and then offering a short nod. 'It suits you.'
And then, as a smile crossed Sylvera's face, Aestra added, 'Though considering we'll have several young men at the party... I rather think that the focus will be otherwise than on the gown's colour.'
Sylvera flushed a rosy shade of pink, and Aestra smirked, though not unkindly.
It was about time that Sylvera caught someone's eye, she thought. A pretty face like that should do for some nobleman's second son. As for herself... the men in Stormwind were so boring. Though, Aestra mused, if she were very fortunate, perhaps this garden party would bring someone intriguing to her door...

The OOC version:
My sister (Aestra) and I (Sylvera) are hosting a small event to bring together some of the noble community in Stormwind. There are so many isolated noblemen and -women running around, often roleplaying their characters very well, but lacking some of the haughty and luxurious society that would no doubt make up the actual well-born community of a city like Stormwind.
The Helmsleys, for example, have done a fine job of creating RP for nobles within a household circle (and I know they have more plans), and the Dawnweavers of Arathor are growing in numbers -- just to name two examples. As there are more nobles running around, I'd like to gather up the waifs and strays and start helping us be a little sub-community: forging ties and dabbling in war and politics, and slagging each other off over fine Dalaran wines.
As such, I thought we'd start with a garden party - wine, music, gossip and conversation. It should be a nice way for some of us to 'meet' each other and start getting down that noble flavour that Stormwind establishments such as the Blade and the Northern Soul don't exactly exude. It'll be small, exclusive and low key, but hopefully a start to something bigger!
I'm making a calendar event, but naturally I don't know who RPs a noble (or a wealthy and prominent citizen, if you have a compelling reason to be invited to such a party!) and who doesn't, so the invite list is small right now. Please let me know if your character should be invited and I'll sort it out straightaway!
What: A high society garden party, nice clothing a must.
When: Saturday, September 25, 20:00
Where: Probably the SW keep gardens, though I'm very open to suggestions.

At September 11th? How thoroughly insensentive!
I kid, I kid.
In all seriousness I'd like to suggest the Park over the Stormwind Keep gardens for a few reasons, the first one being that the Park isn't going to be with us for much longer, and the second being that people doing the "Head of the Beast" quest is going to interrupt the chat a fair bit, I'd think. A third reason would be simply that the Park is bigger and a nicer place to be overall.

Argh, I'd forgotten about the quest. Stormwind really -is- difficult to RP in... my trouble with the Park is that for one, it's currently hosting the Northern Soul which, while it's great for RP, is not really conducive to nobles having a party. I'd really like something secluded. *taps chin*

I find this event to be utterly unAmerican and against everything I stand for.
On a more serious note, have fun!

I'd say we should take the Keep Gardens, as there isn't that many nobles around Stormwind, and the quest wouldn't really be that much of an issue.

It wouldn't be very conductive to the atmosphere to have a noble be murdered in the middle of a party for nobles, yeah?

The quest doesn't happen that regularly and there is a large pause before another CAN do the quest, why not have it in the Garden's and the memorial room.

I advise to keep it in the gardens. Parties are never really held there anyway and the park is so over-used for such events. The atmosphere the gardens will give will make it feel rich and to the standards of nobles, keep in mind the royal gallery aswell to add flavour to the atmosphere.
Anyhow sounds fun. Will try and make it uh-huh.

I've spent a fair bit of time RPing in the Keep Garden. Sometimes that quest might annoy you to hell, having people doing it ALL the bloody time... and sometimes no one does the quest for hours.
The Keep isn't a bad place to host it at, in my opinion.

Yes tyrion and Spybot does get annoying espcially when no one else does the quest since he spams "great job spybot" like every 10 miniutes.
Edit: Forgot to say the best of luck also!

I am absolutely happy to invite any noble/important sort of people, I'd just love either a comment here or in game or wherever, telling me how well known they would be, why they would be invited to such a party, that sort of thing ^^

Dalric is a member of the (new) noble House of Dieudonne. The House is based in Stormwind, and he himself is an advisor in the house. Tarvik can be contacted for more information, as he is the Lord.

Re: The Aislinghall Garden Party
Since I might not be able to catch you online, I'll post it here just in case.
Estarin Dylian and his son Aleric Dylian should both be invited to said event. They -are- minor nobles but thanks to the son's valiant efforts in Northrend in service of the King, their prestige has risen somewhat. That said, Estarin was until recently a member of the infamous Chapter of Holy Anethion.
So it remains a question whether either of them, both or none of them would be invited, and that, I leave up to your character. (Whichever is fine with me!)

Re: The Aislinghall Garden Party
Good idea, that's exactly how nobles should be RPed: elitist, snobbish and for no reason mixing with the crowd.
If it's going to be hosted in the Park we criminals will keep away from it, to make sure none ruins the party.

Re: The Aislinghall Garden Party
You have a fair point. The difference between Stormwinder and Arathorian nobility is one is up their own ass, and one is the route of all humanity. Oh and can kick a Stormwinder's ass because they actually learned to fight.
