William Blackwood, Gilneas.

William Blackwood, a descendant of a renowned and respected Gilneas army officer, never wanted to have anything to do with military discipline. Since childhood, he endured the constant attempts by his father to join the army. And this does not mean that he was not loyal to his nation, he only sought a different way of life. William, from his early youth, until these days, has become an expert hunter, woodsman and skilled fisherman.

After the death of his father in a terrible accident in military training maneuvers, William inherited the house, and very little portion of land that his father had been granted over the years, for outstanding service in the military forces of Gilneas. Upon receipt in his will, he sold everything except the house, where he has lived so far with his pack of dogs.

William has survived all this time away from society, subsisting by himself, hunting, fishing, and in some cases by growing some food behind his house. William was happy, until the terrible curse took its toll on people and nation of Gilneas. Fighting the unknown and unnatural for his eyes, William has been able to avoid the terrible curse maintaining his human condition. However, with the Forsaken invasion, William was forced to leave his house, which was inevitably led to rubble by the invading forces in their eagerness to conquer Gilneas.

Heading south, dodging enemy patrols and regiments, William, with his only dog that managed to survive, stayed alive in the forest of Blackwald, setting traps and ambushing small groups of Forsaken explorers who dared to enter forest.

Now, after establishing that the King, and almost all of the nation has fallen into the hands of the terrible, but manageable, curse, and the control of the nation is still in dispute, William has decided his life alone has come to an end. Back to his old home, William hoped to find something useful that would have been saved from the enemy army. Nothing, absolutely everything had been burned. Realizing, in growing anger, that his only option was to go to the city and join the army, turned around to hit the trail. But at that time, he scaned the horizon, and remembered the stories his father told him about a small noble family whose territories began right at the edge of his home, a noble family, with honor, and respected throughout the nation, the Dunith family.

William, whistling to his dog to follow him, went in search of the current head of the family to offer his services and loyalty. As he walked holding his rifle behind his neck, he smiled to himself, and thinking about his father, he said, "Damnit old pa, I wont be entering the army, but at least I'll be under the command of someone worthy of your respect."
