Adelane's Poems Empty Adelane's Poems

These were all written by her ICly at some point in time, and some hard copy exists somewhere or other of each.

Something Blue
Ode to the ancient regime

Now that I, wearing thy goggles tightly,
May gaze upon my mixture bubbling brightly,
As I pliest my trade to a mixture demonic,
When will my lips taste this unholy tonic?

She thinks of him, yet they know not what I know
Where they are, what they do; they know not my tears flow
While they play, and they flirt, and exchange idle glee
What a monster unleashed, pray let it be me!

Tend to the mixture, and mash up the paste,
I must see it tonight - onwards, with haste!
Better sit thus, observe the mixture's worth,
And tomorrow I dance and I play with Wellsworth!

That in the mortar - the smell, is it done?
My excitement is bubbling, yet more to come!
And yonder soft phial, the exquisite red,
What happens if I drink it, will I end up dead?

Had I but all of them, her and his treasures,
Never would I resort to such desperate measures,
To carry a syringe in a gun, or a casket,
Hidden from plain sight in a filigree basket!

Soon, at the Pig, a mere request to make,
And Aladrian's blood, I shall with haste take!
But from dawn to dusk, careful I must tread,
This task is not light, as my dear friends said!

Quick - is it finished? The serum's too thin!
Why not thick like the blood, all clotted and grim?
Let it slip down my gullet with hardly a care,
Let it fix up my brain, Aladrian, beware!

He is strong, he is big, no minion like me,
That's why he ensnared her: this never will free
The soul from those masculine eyes - say, 'no!'
To that pulse's magnificent come-and-go.

For only last night, as I lay and I thought,
What he has above me, why not it be bought?
Could I keep her one minute fixed, he would surely fall,
And I would claim Wellsworth, once and for all!

Perhaps it will bring him a heart of pain
To see his flirtations and tricks end in vain:
Brand, burn up, illuminated by grace -
Lest he forget her beautiful face

Is it done? Off with my goggles! The mixtures is set,
To the next part of the plan; Easy, I bet!
After one sip, one droplet, of this unholy fee,
Of my childish demeanour, I will finally be free!

Now I take Sheila, and fly to the inn,
Forgive me, dear Wellsworth, for I now must sin:
The Crusader Knight-Captain, whose blood I must steal,
And with it his fervour, his courage, and his zeal!

The Rime of the Brave Mariner

Tonight we travelled atop the waves
To reach our Northrend quarry
But underneath the starry night
Our trip be rendered folly

For reserved we were for dangers ahead
Confident, so our hearts sang
Settled into the dreary night
When the General Quarters rang

From port to bow the cries they sang
As scaly enemies vie our doom
From starbourd to stern the murlocs came
To turn the ship into our tomb

The battle raged as darkness fell
Our Northrend quest be hindered
As guns barked death to creatures bereft
We sailed forever windward

To my battle station I trained my eye
As my aiming cannon be loaded
The thundering boom of the cannon fire
And the giant turtle's guts exploded

Astounded by this brand new threat
One I had not fought before
I dashed across the deck to Sheila
And atop her, I did soar

Enthralled by the taste of blood and battle
My sights fell on beasts without name
Flew I did, trigger I did pull
And their black hearts went up in flame

I cried, lit up in much elation
And my upturned heart turned over
Victory seemed well within sight
But it was not nearly over

From the depths, it came, it stealed our glory
The beast with a thousand beaks
Leviathan, scourge of the seas
Only terror would I then speak

Through the hull, the tendrils rose
The ship be crippled gravely
Splintered wood peppered men good
But they weathered the storm bravely

The beast cried out, as cannons rang
And the tendrils lost their footing
Iniatiative guided the crew
To give the beast a gutting

Into the maw, fearless no more
Was sent explosive barrel
As the cries rang out of the terrorsquid
An explosive end to its carol

We won the night, our souls be saved
But great losses were amounted
To the north we spied a nearby isle
And onward we then bounded

So now we sit, around the fire
Letting praise of victory be sung
Tomorrow then, to Northrend we sail
The adventure has just begun

Mirrored Skies

I feel haunted, and daunted,
My life steps from strife,
As I gaze upon the starry sky,
All I can wonder, who, what, why?

As my thoughts turn to nought,
As in sleep, I cannot weep,
I wonder, I ponder,
Of how long these feelings keep?

Free flows her hair, without a care,
With twinkle in eyes like the starry skies,
To my heart, this beauty, I did befall,
But rash as ever, lead to my downfall.

Times like this, I often fret,
Am I unstable? My emotions bereft?
To the stars, I look, so far
To see, what I can see, to be me.

Father was right, with his long foresight,
My prospects be damned, like castles of sand,
So as I turn instead to the adventures ahead,
I wonder, once more: Would I be better off dead?
