What's up with these random forum PMs?

Every once in a while, on this forum I get PMs with [Contact] in their titles, that clearly are meant for forum mods, not myself. Had two yesterday, for example. I've heard some others get them as well. Where do they come from?!

If a player doesn't insert a name of who they want to said PM to, it gets sent to everyone.

The same applies for when a guest sends a PM.

But apparently it's only some people who get these messages, not everyone..?

I'm not sure how it works. It seems a portion of the member base gets it. I would think it has something to do with the limits set on the number of PMs you can send in a day.

I can take a look at this in the next couple of days and see what I can do to fix it.

They don't tend to be all that interesting, mostly stuff like "can't log in" or "posting and reading issues"

I got the two yesterday and in fact get them a lot.

Just to be the downer in the group (sorry about this) these mails carry peoples e-mail and real name contact details.

This could be a problem due to the data protection act blah blah blah.

Please be careful about sharing the more sensitive stuff, and aye its usually about someone not able to post in a thread or someone who is waiting for authentication so they can become a member of the site.

Again sorry to put up a post like this but better to give you guys a heads up and you can keep safe

The people sending the messages (thus getting their info exposed) are on their own accord (wether accidently or not) sending these messages out to all these users. It's their own fault :p

I then do a member search to see if I can help them out, turns out the account name they're trying to use doesn't exist.
