RP, where art thou?
So yeah, yesterday Sharyssa did a good job of convincing me to come back, especially since she gave a scroll of ress. and I figured having another 80 would help for RP - recreated my "criminal" char Elyza, then spent last night patching and looking for suitable gear which was bloody expensive.
But tbh, last time I tried coming back (december) there was absolutely nothing to do. So where is all this RP you guys are constantly talking about happening?! It's sort of weird to ask this, but then again I've spent the last two years in like, the fringes of RP (Sunfury liked to keep to themselves, and Lyni never left Lordaeron for the most part)

Re: RP, where art thou?
RP these days is mostly about who you know, I find. Guilds, associates in chat channels, and the various small 'concept hubs' (like Shattrath and Dalaran for Outland/Mage RP). Random RP isn't as easy to find, unless you manage to get the above groups to run into each other in some manner.
Also, it requires charisma. A willingness to break out of your comfort zone and create RP instead of simply wait for it to come to you. For example, a character who only stays in Lordaeron is going to find RP to be rare unless they can find ways/reasons to associate with other groups, outside of Lordaeron.
The key thing is to be proactive. Go out there and make/find your own RP.

Stormwind, Shattrath, Silvermoon and Dalaran are the most popular places for random RP right now.
But Drustai, like always, is right.

If you want random RP Stormwind is as usual one of the very few places where you can get that, although I personally often don't find that as enjoyable as RP'ing with specific groups of people. You could probably find some in Darkshire/Duskwood too, but I haven't been there for a while so I can't say.
So yeah, pretty much what Drustai said. You just need to take the initiative yourself and go where you know that there are people to be found. Some places are:
Darnassus (Nature's Grasp & friends)
Duskwood (Fanatics, cultists and the occasional commoner)
Shattrath (Hippie spacegoats that praise the Light (Naaruvada) & friends)
Up north in the Eastern Kingdom (Scarlets, Lordaeronians and those)
Ironforge (The Three Hammers, dem Dwarves)
Elwynn (The Chapter and snobby nobles from House Mistmantle)
Gilneas (Or atleast I think so, was RP to be found there last time I checked. Obviously Worgen and the occasional looter)
Lakeshire (Cultists, commoners)
Acherus (Dem deadies)
Dalaran (Snobby, silly mages)
And of course, Stormwind (Filled with tons of guilds such as: The Forlorn Cartel, Blades for Hire, The Dreadhowl Pack (I think?), Stormwind Naval Infantry, Blue Recluse and the Stormwind Regiment)

Yeah Scarlets... There are no Scarlets anymore i closed down the guild. But the Vigil should move up soon enough up to the North. (Inserts Sabaton-Union)

The Lordaeron people are still alive, and as far as I know they have scarlets. There are also scarlets outside of guilds.

Don't you dare associate TLA with scarlets!
And as for outside of guilds, I still have Lyni if you wanna RP, Morgaan

Re: RP, where art thou?
I have been unguilded for the entire time I have played on this server.
Sometimes it is indeed, difficult to find random role-play, but I would advise that if you have developed a character well enough so that he or she is accessible and interesting to guilds, they will include you in their role-play.
It is important that you know your character inside out, of course.

Depending on your character you can actually just have a lot of fun hanging in the pig & whistle and bothering the more nooby and lulzy players. I've always found it a nice testing ground for new characters, to figure out their manurisms and such.
RP is everywhere if you are willing to reach out and grab it

But yes, there's plenty of RP poping up everywhere, Stormwind is great as ever for casual random occurances and the Pig and Whistle is populated as ever (I also believe there's some movement at the blue recluse, but it's used by us snobs this week).

Well I was snooping around Westbrook Garrison and ended up working for a Disciple for a few silver. And Lyni is currently with Chapter because I pester Morgaan for RP :3
Stormwind just doesn't do it for me, it's a really uninteresting location. And last time I let the dwarves run RP, it ended up stupid.

Re: RP, where art thou?
So you want RP eh? Then you have to sieze the initiative, if you just stand on the stairs of the Stormwind Cathedral all day and expect to get a lot of RP then you'll be dissapointed.
For example, last day I was in Darnassus to pick up the daily cooking quest when I see someone of Nature's Grasp walk by. So I quickly get in my RP gear and we had a little bit of fun random RP.
No, I don't think there's a lack of RP, you just have to know who and where and get busy.
