News Papers

Are they still about? I'm mainly interested in those of the kingdom of SW etc though wouldn't mind to know about other papers too. There always used to be tons of them and I always really enjoyed the read.

In all honesty, Morinth, that might even be quite interesting! People will get to known other role players - and I hope you will not only cover those who are very known from the forums - through gossip and develop some kind of reputation. This reputation may of course not be a very good one.

As for the older newspapers that have been around, I'm pretty sure most of the people writing them have either given up or quit the game. I haven't seen any updates in quite some time.

Well, last night I was thinking of a idea to create some to say, newspaper templates in Photoshop, to then bring up/offer the idea to start the newspapers again, each community having its own.

Where people can see the things going on in their group of interest, and aswell for a amusing read.

It would be good to get a high brow slightly political paper, to cover the famine, council and house of nobles and have war reporters at W PvP events!

I'm considering making a new issue of Elfe, any help and /or suggestions are welcome.

Instead of several, small newspapers which are probably going to slowly fade and die, I'd go for a big, city/kingdom-wise journal with contributions from every guild; knight orders, noble houses, holy guilds and so on. We should be enough to make sure we always have a decent amout of articles, tales and essays.

And it would not have to be weekly, as long as there are people providing content. It could hold knowledge of rp hubs and locations in the form of advertising, groups selling their services (*cough* Blades...*cough*), recruitment posts for war/jobs, random articles about events, or just stories written for fun

Also possible to create events just to be written to the newspaper.

what about a giant neutral one, that covers both factions? so both sides can see whats afoot.

...they used to have this little group of people who had an office and you could make an appointment with them and give them your story. In turn they write it all down in GHI and go about the streets yelling "extra extra"

You pay them a few coppers and well, the GHI paper on AD used to be like 30 pages long? With advertisement, fun columns, guild recruitment, politcal stories etc etc

I personally have no time for this but people are free to snatch the idea. I personally loved this idea.

A neutral paper wouldn't be so farfetched, they'd be in all the neutral towns and would be taken from them obviously by travellers. \o I might look into writing up a 'fun' column about various RP'ers on both sides.

I don't mind offering to do the design/layout bits and pieces to put this together once the actual content/articles are done, as it's pretty much my job IRL . Either that or I can knock up a template fairly easily for use.

... I like writing! I'll help with the writing! Writing is fun... Did I mention writing?

Shouldn't we create a list or something of people who want to help and their tasks?

This can prove interesting, seeing as Cultists can show up and twist their truths out to the public.

I'm willing to both help give stories (advertisements, etc) and write up some.
