Fighting the Undead Empty Fighting the Undead

Post by Ishap/Virock Wed Sep 14, 2011 9:16 pm

I've been asked to prepare this leaflet in preparation for the Crusade, pay attention to it and you might just avoid becoming one of them.

Fighting them

Okay, the first thing you've got to remember is that even if they're not moving you probably still haven't managed to stop them completely, even if the head has been removed the rest of them quite often keeps coming so keep hacking at them. Do whatever you can to keep them down, one of the dwarves in the company I was with in Northrend dropped half a house on a group of Scourge once. Once they're down burn them as fast as possible, use whatever combustibles around to build the fire, the hotter the better.

Wounds and infection

When wounded if fighting the undead infection becomes a massive threat, get to a doctor as fast as possible, clean the wound as well as you can as soon as it happens then bandage tightly. If you are far away from proper medical supplies then it might be best to cauterise the wound with heated metal to close it and remove any of the plague on the wound, then pour disinfectant or alcohol of some form on it, if you don't have any then try and find some dwarves.

Other precautions

Double the normal number of watchkeepers at night, we have to sleep but they don't so attacks can come at any time. Don't go off alone, rather self explanatory I think. If you suspect any enemy presence then report it, ambushes arent much fun for the ones being ambushed. Any areas that seem off may be polluted by the plague, make sure no-one goes into the area and that everyone is aware of it.

Hopefully this will be of use to everyone.

The biggest threat is trying to get the alcohol off the dwarves when you find them

To the honorable Lieutenant, Ishap Balancer,

Thank you, Sister, for this leaflet. I particularly appreciated the note on preventing infections, for such infections are as a great a threat as the injuries. It is here that I would request for an additional note. Supplies may prove difficult to have, on the battlefield or around. Should no alcohol or clean water be available, then urine can serve to rinse a wound. At least, it could until further medical assistance is available. While urine is hardly hygienic, it is more sterile and safe than muddy water.
It should be noted this is only recommended if no alternative is available and the patient does not suffer a wound that permits the urine to seep into his internal organs.

Sincerely,
Chaplain Jean-Pierre d'Armagnac,
Chief medical officer.

DW if anyone gets plagued, I will, with a heavy heart, apply the emperors mercy to you all.

On a less fatal note however, paladins are immune from the plague right?

Remember, Gnomish Flamethrowers and Cryo-Cannons are extremely potent against the Undead and their creations! Place your order for the most advanced and powerful weapons in Alliance territory today!

Just fill out a formal letter detailing the necessary components and amount of products and mail it to the Gnomeregan Institute of Science to have your production begun immediately!

If you want a weapon that doesn't exist yet, please construct a draft of the purpose of the device and we'll get right on creating a field-ready prototype within two weeks time!

As much as it pains me to say,....

"The Knights of the Silver Hand was the original paladin order. Formed during the Second War, it was at its height until the time of the Plague. As paladins were immune to the Plague (and indeed all diseases), many members of the Order survived the initial push of the Scourge."
- WoWWiki Paladin (history section)-

But take note that the plague has changed (see wrathgate incident) The new strain of plague managed to kill a lot of fighters (even Bolvar Fordragon who was a paladin)

I'm not quite sure that it was "killling" Bolvar. He become some half-living abomination. That somehow reacted to the dragons fire. One could also argue how good he was at healing and curing.

However, there is that quest where you have to "cure" and argent crusader in icecrown, but it doesn't work. Was he a paladin?

Well it did serverely weaken bolvar and it killed the man he used to be.

About the crusader in Icecrown I know which one you mean... not sure if he was a paladin though. Since not every member of the Argent Crusade is.

Maybe there was a greater acidity and corrosion factor in the Wrathgate plague. I don't think the light protects against that. So while being immune to the disease qualities, he still got pretty... erm... fecked up by the acid.

Well like I said the plague has evolved since the first deployment in Lordaeron, so paladin players cannot automaticly assume they are Immune to the deployment of the plague now used by the forsaken.

The wowpedia article vaguely references to the plague's ability to change itself and potential hosts.

The new Forsaken blight is NOT a disease, like the Scourge one was. It is a corrosive substance. It works through disintegrating and liquifying organic tissue. This works perfectly fine on paladins.

Paladins are immune to diseases and sickness. Not to acids and chemical burns. The Forsaken blight is the latter.

The new plague, at it's most powerfull, requires a cooldown period before forsaken can settle in the bombed areas. However after taking a quick look at wowpedia, I'm not sure that the new plague is an acid, but a kind flesh eating disease that creates an acid as a by product. Since said acids cause burns... and don't dissolve organic tissue into piles of goo.

Whut? Burn them alive >Smile !

PS: If the Forsaken' new Blight is not an acid and not a disease, then how do Paladins react to it? If they stay too much time within the plagued area their skin begins to rot?
