I've been cleaning up my pc to allow WoW to run more smoothely today. Deleted probably 10 games I never play any more and a whole load of applications and what not. However I've been running a Disk Defragmenter today and its been going for 7 hours now O_o. Why is this? Any other tips too? Deleted everything I don't need. Going to scan for hard drive corruption, scan for virus's and stuff.

The time required for defragmentation is tied to the amount of free space, the amount of data to be restructured and the speed of your hard drive. If you haven't defragmented in a while, it could easily take a long time.

Ah. I've been downloading quite a lot of music and games over the summer. Haven't defragged in many months I think. I have over 100GB free now, wasn't expecting 7+ hours D:

CCleaner, RevoUninstaller, when running a defragmenter (i use defraggler) i examine the file list and do some sherlock holmes type shit, finding really large files that i dont even need, like old wow ptr installations that were like 20gigs etc

Delete System 32. Thank me later ^^.

Seriously mind, don't do that. CCleaner is a really good tool. Run it to clear your crap and be sure to also give your registery a bit of a look over (be sure to back-up or save before hand). You should see a wee speed increase).

I see you use a laptop, be sure to clean out the events physically, the clearer air-flow may prevent any overheating problems. This goes for larger desktops for anyone wishing to do so; crack that grate open and clear the dust off after grounding yourself. PC maintenance, people!
