[H] The Honest Dogs Company (Recruitment closed) Empty [H] The Honest Dogs Company (Recruitment closed)

Post by Guldujenu Wed Nov 24, 2010 7:59 pm

Introduction:

On the island of Kezan, there was once a small company called "The Honest Dogs Company". It was a company that had tried buying, selling or inventing just about anything you could imagine, without any success at all. From the rocket-powered leather boot, designed for the impatient thief, to the ecological "Flower Sword" for the pacifistic vegetarians and breakable windows made for those who would always lose their keys to their house.

However, after several years of struggling to get by, the company finally started to make some decent profit. Realizing that toad-flavored ice-cream and camel-hair underwear wasn't as profitable as they had originally hoped, the company decided to settle with some more.. basic.. things to base their business on.

They started out small but in a broader area than before. Selling and repairing weapons and armor as well as providing guard services for the wealthier people in town soon proved itself to be a good place to start. As the company had issues with money (if you hadn't caught onto that yet you might as well stop fooling yourself and realize that you either can't read or you're more suitable for the position as grenade tester down by the explosives factory) in the beginning(s), the workers soon found out that both renting hunters and miners to gather furs and metal was not an option. Instead they were forced to learn how to do those things themselves, which carried on to become something like a tradition for the Dogs (not to mention that it cut down on the expenses).

After a while of doing this, the Dogs soon realized that if they wanted it to be done properly and to gain a bigger profit, they had to start recruiting more people with different talents who would contribute to the company. It proved to be the right choice, as a leather jerkin made from the fur that an experienced trapper had acquired was more appealing than the scraps of leather the CEO (Chief Explosive Officer) would come back with after he was done "hunting" the animals of Kezan.

Throughout it's existence, the Dogs have managed to hold on to their three main rules. No stealing, no cheating, and always finish the job with a satisfying result. With a name as "The Honest Dogs", any rumors about the Dogs being a bunch of dishonest and cheating goblins would not only confuse the not-so-intelligent customers, but also bring a bad reputation to the company's name.

However, where one man makes more gold than the other, there will always be jealousy and rivalry. After noticing the booming success of the Dogs, a different company decided that their moment of fame would have to end. It started out with threats, but the Dogs were confident after finding their niche in the market and how they had well-equipped guards should they need any muscle.

It ended, however, in treachery.

The workforce of the Honest Dogs consisted of good and loyal goblins, both men and women, who all firmly believed that if they wanted to get somewhere, they had to grease their elbows and help out.

However, a loyal goblin may be a good friend, an excellent craftsman and loyal to boot, but at the end of the day, a goblin is still a goblin. And no goblin can resist a fat, bulging sack of shiny coins and a guaranteed spot in a different company's workforce, and then with a higher salary than before.

In the end the rival company managed to burn down three of the five workshops the company owned, killing several of the workers who had refused to betray the Dogs in the process. Despite attempts to keep it hidden, the company knew exactly who were responsible. The Dogs were at the brink of losing their whole business, but the handful of workers that were left all shared a strong loyalty to the Dogs, as well as a intense, burning hatred towards the company who had crippled their business and killed their friends. They refused to quit their jobs, even with the payments being late due nearly all the income going towards repairing the workshops, and some even wanted to work for free if it meant the Dogs could stay in business (which shocked the management of the Dogs, as a goblin working for free was unheard of).

Sadly, the company slowly started to crumble. Burning hatred and loyalty only lasts for so long when the dull ache of starvation settles in your stomach, and in the end the workers had to quit because they needed food on their tables. With no workers left, the few remaining Dogs decided to spend the little amount of money they had left to get on the ship of Gallywax, only to be taken as slaves like the rest.

After being bombarded by the Alliance, which in a way reminded them of the rival company from Kezan, and then meeting the Horde, the remaining Dogs swore loyalty to the Horde just like all the other goblins who had survived the trip.

After they had settled in and had become accepted by their new allies, the remaining members of the Honest Dogs decided to reform the company and serve the horde through trade and muscle-for-hire, with the latter being free of charge of course, provided that the Dogs would be able to grab some coins from the dead Alliance bastard's bodies.

Even though the events that transpired on Kezan is behind them, the Dogs decided that they would always remain a company that would be loyal to it's customers, fair to it's workers and as honest as a goblin can be.

OOC:

We are a goblin-only roleplaying guild. Our main focus is roleplaying, but we do try to look for other aspects of the game as opportunities rise, such as World-PvP and PvE. We are interested in holding events within and outside of our guild, that is with other guilds that roleplay. Our guild also enforces the "no-blue shielding rule" which explains itself, aka no blue shielding, always have your pvp on.

How to apply?

Go to our forums and register. Before you post an application please go through our rules. For further questions feel free to ask there or contact us ingame. Our Goblin characters are "Daxarth" and "Spliruz" you may also post questions here or PM me. We are open for recruitment now despite not being able to roll a goblin yet.

We will also have an ooc-channel which will be given to you once you join the guild.

here's our shameless promotion video:

Concept of the guild:

Basicly you are working for the Company and you get paid for it (IC:ly of course). Each new member can apply for a specific career path within the guild and work their way from there, literally. Here are some example ranks to get a better understanding of the career paths:

These are the current IC ranks within the Honest Dogs Company.

Amateur

This is the new guy/girl that's passed the application and interview. He/she will choose which path seems the most interesting out of Dealer, Bruiser & Grenadier, and then the Amateur will become an "apprentice" to a Dealer, Bruiser or Grenadier. Then, the Amateur will be tested to see if he/she is qualified for the job, as well as if he/she wants to go down that path after all.

Dealer, Bruiser, Grenadier

These are people who are part of the general workforce of the Company. Passing the tests given to them and proving to be qualified for the job, they have started working in their to-be area of expertise. They deal with the more general tasks within their field.

Specialist

A Specialist is a veteran in his/her field, and has the knowledge and experience that a regular Dealer, Bruiser or Grenadier doesn't. The Specialist is tasked with more challenging work, and as of such, the Specialist is required to accomplish more in his/her field than the regular worker.
Rank names:
Security Specialist (Bruiser), Explosives Specialist (Grenadier) & Merchandise Specialist (Dealer)

Chief Explosives Officer (CEO), Chief Security Officer (CSO), Master Dealer (MD)

The CEO, CSO and MD (Merchandise Dealer)They hold authority over the workers, and are a part of the management. They are masters in their fields, and as of such they have extensive experience with what they are doing. Along with authority of the workers, they're also held responsible for them. They are to make sure they are healthy and fit for work and to give them advice if they should ask for it.

Supervisor

The Supervisor answers only to the Boss and is the one who passes information between people. He/she also has to make sure that the Company always operates at peak efficiency, and that as few as possible accidents happen.

The Boss

The Boss is.. well.. the Boss of the Company. He's the one who decides what gets produced, who does what, if you get payed, the color of the toilets.. the list goes on. Ultimately, all decisions that are of significant issue, will go through the Boss.

Too bad that gets in your way of joining! Over the years i've seen non-IC and IC chats, imo. theres not much difference to me writing OOC stuff in /g or /6 for examble, depening your OOC channel number ofc.. To me it brings opportunidies roleplaying without having to meet up only for such. Sometimes totally random IC discussions can happen in IC-guildchat which can be a lot of fun RP-wise. Also an seperate OOC-channel allows you to communicate with your guildies without having logged on your goblin (in this examble), if you like playing other characters aswell. Smile

Not to mentione walkie-talkies are a legic IC-reason for long distance communications! (at last!)

Introducing the first part of HDCCE*.

*Honest Dogs Company compendium on Engineering!

Instructions on using modern day engineering equipment, written by The CEO's (Chief Explosives Officer) of THDC through trial and error and then written again for obvious reasons.

The Rocket Launcher.

Step one: Assembly:

  • Put a THDC approved rocket inside the launcher, thus creating a rocket launcher.
  • DO NOT: Put the rocket in the wrong way, look for an arrow pointing the direction where the rocket moves. In THDC approved launchers you will see an arrow pointing at the direction you should fire. Match these arrows.
  • DO NOT: Use while drunk.

Step two:

  • Aim the rocket launcher towards the desired targets (Things you want to blow up).
  • DO NOT: Shoot things only a few feet away from you.
  • DO NOT: Use Underwater.
  • DO NOT: Use while jumping.
  • DO NOT: Use the rocket launcher to hunt for small animals.

Step three:

  • Light the fuse at the end of the rocket. (The rope looking thing at the end of the rocket).
  • DO NOT: Panic and drop the rocket launcher
  • DO NOT: Stop aiming at the right target.
  • DO NOT: Check the rocket inside the launcher after lighting the fuse.

Step four:

  • Enjoy the boom.

Giving this second thoughts, is there any way for me to contact you ingame? I'm assuming "Daxarth" is your to-be goblin name?

Well, in any case, which character should I look for to ask questions about this guild? Smile

Merge is complete, just bought a new domain name for our guild site and we're editing the story, ranks and so forth for the new company that emerged from it. It's still a bit shaken and we need to do this and that, like get our latest promo video to a proper streaming site (for some reason dailymotion keeps deleting mine). And we did get our name changed aswell to the new one ingame.

On that topic, mods, feel free to lock this thread or delete since the information on this thread is no longer up to date. Yesterday we got an applicant who applied using the forums and went to our site via the information on this thread. Our new site will be www.theblackpowdercompany.com (Takes a few days to start working)

Krak, you might want to remove the dot at the end from the url link as it breaks the link.

Edit: although it seems the link's broken anyway. Is it still on the works, or..? Either way, good luck with the newly formed collaboration.

They said it takes up to five days to get the address working. It's only been two days so.
