I am just excited and childish. I am a BIT older than 12. Razz

Anyway yes, Marting tends to avoid clichés entirely, twist the story around in a way you never thought possible.

I finished the first book, eagerly devouring the second. Really enjoyable books. On one side, I hate awesome characters being killed off, and on the other side it thrills me so much to see that nothing is set, nothing is guaranteed.

I have no problem with awesome characters dying. Brings live to books rather than take it away if you actually let characters die instead of making them immortal by plot divices.

I found something rather funny in Crows, page 634. It's not spoiling anything so I'll let it be open.

"The best whores are at the Happy Port, down by where the mummers´Ship is moored." She pointed. Some of the dockside whores were vicious, and sailors fresh from the sea never knew which ones. (...)
"Ask for Merry. Meralyn is her true name, but everyone calls her Merry, and she is." Merry bought a dozen oysters every time Cat came by the brothel and shared them with her girls. She had a good heart, everyone agreed. "That, and the biggest pair of teats in all of Braavos," Merry herself was fond of boasting.

I had no idea about this when I made my character. xD

Some inspired casting.

Charles Dance as Tywin is amazing to be honest. Perfect.

We shall see how it "looks" as that is a lot of the battle. casting can work, even if seemingly dodgy, if the feel of the thing works.

Most of that cast looks GREAT!
They still haven't found Bran and Rickon, eh? I guess Rickon is incredibly hard to cast for, as he's just 4 years old.

I don't really like the one they picked for Daenarys, though. She looks more like a Myrcella to me. Also Loras Tyrell isn't pretty enough.

The tease on HBO's site makes me goose-bump. I want this show to air NOOOOW!!! Very Happy

I hated the guy they had cast for Jamie to start with, but he's kind of grown on me.

Far more irritated that it's going to be on Sky in the UK really... I heard good rumours that the BBC were going to co-produce it like Rome but seems that never materialised.

I must admit that Cersei's and Jaime's actors could easily pass for siblings. I also think they both look great for the role. Though I would have preferred if they were blonde. ^^

Some of the actors are just pefect.

I wonder how Jamie will be able to fight with that nose. Unless the nose is the weapon itself!

Or wigs. Wigs/hairpieces is much more common than hair dye.

October 2010. That's the best date so far. As in, it's the date we have yet to pass :p

Since the book has had a "release date" every years since 06... It's not really. I'm not beliving any dates until I actually see the book on the shelfs =P

Hence it being the best date "so far" as the "date we have yet to pass"! I've heard nothing recently... but... call me a cynic:

Martin has been heavily involved in the HBO programme, maybe that has spurred him on to write? Or slowed him down?

Maybe his publishers smell the obvious money in sales linked to a HBO programme bringing his work to a larger market? Delaying release until next year anyway...

well. the show starts in 2011... so october 2010 is very unlikely, since he hasn't finished the manuscript as of yet. and then there still editorialising stuff, getting stuff to the printer then shipping it... nope that won't happen.
