From Ataris with <3

Hello.

I’ve been hanging around these boards since they came up, as most of you probably know. I applied to the forum as a moderator in the hopes of helping out the RP community in general and at the same time get a good look at the current situation in the community, seeing as how I did at the time not play the game. I think it’s safe to assume I’ve had my fair share of disagreements with almost everyone in the moderator group by now, but I think we’ve always come to a somewhat sensible conclusion with all our discussions. We’ve worked through our different opinions and difficulties and hopefully provided some good moderation and a good forum for users to read and post their ideas at. This is all just my opinion, of course.

Recently however, I feel that a lot of decisions and discussions have happened behind the scenes, in the shadows. I do not agree with these decisions, but I have not had my chance to speak my mind on it. I’ve had to complain and bitch a lot to get some things across, but the most recent events have for me…been the last straw so to speak. Things have been delayed endlessly because it has not been in some people’s interest and I’m sick of the general attitude surrounding these boards. As such, I feel that I am no longer needed nor wanted on these forums.

As such I am stepping down from my post as moderator and leaving these boards to their fate. I wish everyone reading this the best of luck in the future, whatever future that may be. Take care.

Isn't this a little harsh?

If you feel you don't want to mod because you don't like how it's handled, then just step down from that and continue to be a normal member.

From what I've seen on this forum, it really isn't at all different to every other forum with a large collective of people. It's a very typical forum, but if you feel you do not wish to come back, then have fun and take care.

You will be remembered.

I don't think you can expect people to be insta-responding at this time. It's summer, and thus people are slower cause they rather go do something fun I reckon.

And as far as "In the shadow decisions" goes, the only thing that has been decided without directly discussing with the moderators is moderator applications, which is how it has been done every time might I add Also how you yourself got in. I've decided that more or less alone because no matter how you put it I made these forums. I don't have to give people moderator rights. But I do so because I feel I need help. And as such to work properly mostly people that I have somewhat of trust towards or know are capable of such a job has gotten the rank.

Anyhow, I can see how you dislike the attitude here, I do too and get really frustrated more then often. So anyhow, good luck in whatever you decide to do next.

I'm well aware of that, but I think 3-5 weeks is a bit above what one would consider insta.

I'm not exactly sure what happened here, but regardless, I reckon I can understand some what few sentiments I do understand. Good luck out there, though as Jakins said, I don't see how a complete "self-ban" from the forum would be necessary.

I'm not sure about that, either, Koz. O.o If anything, it feels a bit contradicting to at the same time tag "decisions in the shadows" and "too slow responses", as those things are generally opposite.

I really still don't see all the trouble. These forums didn't excist a while back, who cares who is moderator and who isn't or what they do? It doesn't really.. affect us in real life, nothing in this game or forum does.

Maybe this is just my new perspective..

Just teasing. I think a moderator likes to feel that they -do- contribute something and that their opinions are valued. It's a team effort to maintain a forum this size and I think recent decisions that were made rather suddenly have jolted all the members in one way or another, mods included.

Just gathering this assumption from what I've observed, the past two days or so.

I don't have a clue what's going on, but er, I'll miss you around as a mod, Ataris, since you've always seemed sensible and I liked your ideas in the Alliance Outlaws.

It's a shame, Ataris. You were definitely one of the better moderators, I think I agree with all who say self-banning yourself is a little over the top, however. You're a valued member of the RP community, you shouldn't simply leave because of a few issues.

Yeah, I wasn't really referring to that :p Bad sentence structure that time round. As much as this forum may have it's up and downs, it really is the best gathering of the RP community we've got. Obviously being in-game gives you constant contact with the community but we've got plenty here.

Perhaps, take a few days and give it some thought? It's well worth sticking around, even if you're done moderating.
