Hacked.

So, I've been hacked on Vectoria my little goblin fund of a growing 3k gold has gone, completely vanished, My epic staff, boots, rings and earrings. Thankfully my bank was saved and my heirlooms but still. Just a word for warning, I never thought this could happen to me. ..Never handed out my password, avoided dodgey links. didn't buy a single gold peice.

Yup. That's true actually, MMOwned and other various Cataclysm leaks might have something to do with it.

... altough i've just gotten some "Delivery Status Notification (Failure)‏" where some wowadmin adress (not fuly trusting that) is warnings about violated terms to different hotmail accounts >.>

That happened to me too a couple of months ago, and I ahve never done any of those things either. Really scary.

Anyway, I called Blizzard and they fixed it right away and I got all my things back.

I've got hacked a few weeks ago. Blizz noticed before I did and locked the account. They had sold everything that can be sold, changed my HS to K3 (?) respecced and changed my binds, bought gems for all my honor etc, etc. Some stuff was still on the AH and those items was reimbursed but the auctions not canceled so I actually made some gold on getting hacked.

Apparently they use the AH for laundering the money as well. I had for instance bought several roasted quail for 4k gold a piece...

Food is expensive these days, maybe they were just hungry?

Well, whilst I'm waiting on  a GM to ticket back. I think i'll make some use of the heirlooms I've collected. Hrm..

Shaman/druid/mage or priest. Leaning towards a priest. But then I'd be using Koblit'z class..

Just get an authenticator IMO. Saves a lot of trouble.

That does not mean you should go without protection otherwise of course, but it helps a lot. The programs Kristeas mentioned helps.

I've never been hacked before, and I don't think I will, I always thought the authenticator was useless but it is definately worth the trouble, I got mine for free as the ipod touch application, so, yeah, buy one/download one

I sold a RP set on each toon and got a nice 100 or so gold on each faction 'cause of it. So i'm fine, but thank you for the offer.

Oh my goodness, that's terrible! When I was hacked, I remember the GMs were able to reimburse me with everything I had, including the gold lost etc. so hopefully they'll be able to do the same for you!

When it happened to me, the mail said i wouldn't get back gems and enchants.. but i did and i got quite a nice profit just vendoring all the stuff that was farmed.

Just stay away from shady links. That should prevent all keyloggers.

I can not understand why people do not get Authenticators.

But yeah, Give them a call and they will have you sorted alot quicker than if you try ingame/email.

And Yeah, Both MMOchamp and Cynicalbrit was cracked by some koreans or whatever so you could have gotten it from anywhere.

Every time I hear this kind of story, I think by myself "shouldn't I get an authenticator?"
Then the lazy part of me says "Nah"

But yeah, I hope you get all your stuff back, being hacked must suck...

Zalg, authenticators can be compromised as well nowadays. Or that's what I read somewhere.

Jut avoid malicious sites, get a girlfriend to avoid shady porn sites, use an unique pass for WoW, and you will not need an authenticator.

The chances of you getting a "man in the middle" attack on you are about as big as you getting laid with a female.

Authenticators are the best way to protect your account.

Tip from blizzard customer service: Copy+paste your password to the game and never type it. Keyloggers cannot relate your pw to your account if you do not type they keys.

We got hacked once and it was bloody nightmare to see our precious toons naked without anything. We got everything back in 7 days. Funniest part was that goldseller had turned all our cooking awards to northern spices and sold them. When we got our things back we got about 1200 northern spices + our lost awards. Yummy cooking for months guaranteed

+ we got authenticator then and have had no troubles after that.

But if you copy+paste your password you're still vulnerable to the hackers. Unless you keep it on the flash drive or something.

I don't keep my passwords anywhere. I copypaste random chitchat from internet and make that my password

Yeah, must be hard for keyloggers if I have 2 tomes of War'n'peace as my pass.
