Battered hilt vs Monks!

Hammer of Purified Flame is the most monk-looking mace I can think of in the entire game. Will a monk get the option to pick it as his reward from the battered hilt-quest chain, or is he stuck with the sword?
... Basicly, I want that mace. If my monk can't have it, then he won't get to start the quests either. Would be such a massive waste.

I'll give it to my priest then. Somebody needs that Dragonmace.
Or spam blizzard to takes swords away from all monks. Because reasonable resolutions are reasonable and all that.
