[A] Kinship of The Bloodied Maw (Working Title) Seeking feedback and input.
Work in progress, seeking constructive opinions of community. (apologies for bad spelling, grammar and English.. I wish I could say it was my second language.. but..)
You may be interested in this project if..
You have a Gilnean or a Worgen character.
You enjoy rituals, superstition and a unhealthy relationship with faith in your roleplay.
Have an appreciation for horror themes and horror authors who favour small towns and small communities as a setting.
' Put your hand to your throat.. that's it, don't be afraid Child, we only seek to open your eyes.. but first, listen.. listen to that dull tempo, that continuous drumming that flows under your skin, around your bones and deep into the very roots of your heart.
The blood that races through you is the very same blood of the men who rose from the forest, carved bricks from stone, lifted roof over head and tamed wolves into dogs.
Never forget what you are Child, not just for your sake.. but also for those who came before you. '
Fulwood is a small reclusive town nestled between the salty eastern shore and the thick dank forests of The Blackwald, despite being birthed so close to Tempests Reach and the fishermen who call The Reach home, the villagers of Fulwood are notoriously reclusive and mistrusting even of the neighbouring seamen.
Given it's name due to the polluted wood that grows around the town, life has always been difficult for those who call Fulwood home.. the lumber is notoriously bad for carpentry, building and it even struggles to burn without magical aid.
Despite this the town has always had a deep and unshakeable connection to The Old Faith: Both the worship of Ancestors and the reverence of Nature and the spirits who dwell within it. A villagers worship of nature isn't just in the healing of the sick or the growing of crops but a deep (arguably fear of) respect for animal spirits such as the wolves who prowl amidst the cliffs, the ram who call the valley home and the crows who are said to bring misfortune to those disrespect home and family.
Even before The Fall of Gilneas, The Village of Fulwood was renown for superstition and unnerving traditions.
--
When the land shook and the dead came to conquer. It was the Town Council of Fulwood that turned to their ancient elders and primal gods, subsequently as Goldrinns embrace ripped a path through Gilneas the chaos ignited Fulwood in a week of bloodied slaughter and the mournful songs of his new faithful, when the dust settled and the calm returned to those recently turned a new order within Fulwood had been born.
Separated from the remnants of their Kingdom and The King who leads it, The Village has become an independent state which practices freedom of religion to the extreme. (Not sure how long it's been but..) for the past few years the towns folk of Fulwood have practice ancient sacrificial rites to honour their towns savoir The Bloodied Maw, The Tall Man With A Wolfs Head, The Beast-Father: a new deity born of old Harvest scripture and this new worgen gift.
Whether a corruption, adaptation, true visage of Goldrinn or simply a ruse conjured by the new leader of The Village, The Kinship of The Bloodied Maw are a zealous gathering of Harvest-Witches and Warlocks who honour their new god with gore and sacred tribute.
Not all members of The Kinship are worgen, although all of them are of Fulwood (Or atleast born within Gilneas) despite their deep connection with the wolf spirit, the Cultists revere all aspects of nature that show the merit of hunting prey, predatory strength and strength gain from trial.
Even if some of The Kinship are not intentionally evil or malicious they are deeply indoctrinated and see their monthly sacrifices as a necessity, believing themselves only having survived The Fall of Gilneas due to their new gods favour.. it is widely believed that those villagers who fell during the spreading of the curse were the first sacrifices (and revered martyrs) who ensured The Beast-Fathers favour and in turn the survival of the town.

- Spoiler:
- I'm looking to insert a bit of my own fiction into Warcraft, not so much lore theorycrafting but more a plot device that could link a handful of Gilneans, Worgen and anything inbetween.
Roleplayers who are looking for ritualistic and horror themes within their characters past or possibly even plots within their future.
The goal of this project isn't to form any guild or even a channel but simply to create a network ICly of friends, allies, enemies.
The project will not require anything other then exploring who knows who and how our characters may have interacted within the past.

This looks rather well thought-out and interesting. If you would kindly keep me in the loop with your activity, I might want to check this out on my Worgen witch.

Perfectly fitting for bleak, depressing gilneas.

I would wish to contribute to this, because I just love what I am Reading right now. While I probably won't be able to make a very successfully active alt for it, I might perhaps help you out in other ways, if I find the time for it. Interesting concept indeed.

I think us Keel Harbor cultists would love some mysterious neighbors, if anyone actually chose to return to Gilneas to RP it out! Â Housewarming gifts might be rather odd... ;D

Re: [A] Kinship of The Bloodied Maw (Working Title) Seeking feedback and input.
Thanks for the interest guys!
At the moment this little idea baby doesn't really have a system or a series of events plans! it's just a collection of thoughts and themes I wanna explore and contribute to my new Gilnean, so any suggestions are welcome and anyone who wants to run their own events whilst using some of the er.. ' lore ' I've scribbled up, are welcome to!
Just try to keep all those involved in the loop (maybe by posting in this thread?) so we can all RP off one another and the cause and effect scenarios that'll spring from it.

I'm very interested in this, for my Worgen Druid. She's very religious in regards to worshipping nature itself, but an be very logical in regards to everything else. Do you think that this could perhaps fit in?

I Think the most awesome thing to do would be to see if some of the Guilds would be able to maybe create something of a Community around this area in the form of maybe a Lord's manor somewhere, the actuall Citizens, the cults, maybe even have some sort of interractions with the Lordaeronian Guild when they have settled down. It is just a thought, I might have a reason to send a mage up there if it is established well enought.

The Village psyche is fueled by paranoia and superstition, these villagers believe that their sacrifices and religious practices are the only thing keeping themselves safe from the outside world.
Experiencing a traumatic event and in this case there's three of those.. (Cataclysm itself, Worgen crisis and The Undead invading), can cause a huge shift in a characters personality, we all deal with things differently after all! The people of Fulwood have always been reclusive and separate from other citizens of Gilneas, with the horrors they've endured? they've gone from a reasonably superstitious people to a full blown murder-cult.
I don't think the average deranged villager would be too concerned with logic or be particularly consistent in their thought processes.
On the other hand though they don't just worship a Lycan deity, but the virtues of strength through physical prowess and the qualities of hunting/killing.. it may seem logical for the mentioned Druid to value those elements after all it would be pretty comforting to know you could shift into a giant wolfbeast and rip off someone's head and even more reassuring to believe that you have a divine being also looking out for you, provided you keep sacrificing strangers to him.

This seems very well organised and well-thought it so I would totally give out so a thumbs up in that respect. Do you have any idea on the whereabouts of your... Den? I'm definitely interested in this and I'll be in-contact about slipping a character in. Good work!

I'm not looking to create a guild or even an area specifically dedicated for this Kinship, it's more of a call out to anyone who wants to be involved, from that we can then discuss events that could happen (or have happened already), relationships and connections that would inevitably be drawn from due to the cliquey nature of the Village.

Maybe it'd be a good idea to start it off with a narrative thread - Like a play-by-post role-play.

I would gladly organize an event where some mages from the Arcana travel to mayhaps observe the practices in the region and the cults in academical analysis and investigation. If this sounds intriguing, I would gladly keep in touch regarding it, as to add to the -troublesome outsiders- theme.
