Description:
A fairly non-descript Gnome who tends to wear relatively expensive if somewhat worn and tatty clothes. Her hair is white-blonde and cut short and her eyes are almost invariably hidden behind some kind of goggles.
Personality:
Some might call Paia brave. They're wrong, she's not. Paia is simply not the kind of person who in the heat of the moment thinks through anything before acting. She also hides a lack of social awareness behind pretentiously gruff inscrutability. As impulsive and sometimes awkward as she is Paia can be her character flaws are not so crippling that she is useless. She is extremely book smart and capable in a number of academic and practical skills. She approaches tasks, especially those which are not performed under under extreme pressure with a professional can do attitude and she is mainly capable of swallowing her more incendiary remarks before she causes a serious incident.
History:
Born in Gnomeregan, growing up the daughter of war veterans and respectable middle class tradespeople. On retirement from the military after the war her father tried his hand at being an Insurance Salesgnome and her mother became a Painter and Decorator.
Paia and her siblings, of which there are a fair few, none of which are important in any way were well educated and lived fairly dull middle class lives until the fall of Gnomeregan. In this period Paia learned arcane magic, though she had no significant talent for it was never more than moderately competent with a flair for the destructive. She also studied a number of non-magical subjects spending most of her Gnomeregan life in academic or magical study. During the fall of her home Paia volunteered to fight the Troggs, using what magic she had learned. Despite the efforts of gnomes like Paia the city was irradiated and abandoned. Paia still blames herself for this loss to this day despite it not really being her fault.
Despairing, Paia took a number of positions in dangerous places, did contract work in research and development for people shady and respectable and generally threw herself at any problem put in her way, normally using explosives and fireballs to solve her problems. Paia continued this a number of years searching for a purpose. She continued this until during work in Northrend as an air-courier she was shot down and hospitalized for an extend period of time. Having recovered Paia found herself shaken and unable to properly practice her magical arts so after a long period of introspection took up the light.
