End of an Era
The large, upholstered mahogany chair he was seated in radiated wealth as well as pompousness. It was one of the many objects in the room that showed off the fat gnome’s expensive and exorbitant taste. The room felt cosy and closely resembled a setting in which you’d find the typical wealthy bon-vivant. The scarce segments of wall that hadn’t been covered in large bookcases, filled with books that had undoubtedly never been opened, featured several magnificent paintings, held in kitschy gilded frames. One thing all of the paintings had in common, was that all of them revolved around some sort of scarcely-clad female beauty. A second feature that was shared amongst all of the paintings was the fact that the bottom right corner, the corner usually reserved for the creator‘s signature, featured the simple initials S.S.
His right hand’s meaty fingers tapped on a dull envelope, which was sealed with crimson wax that hadn’t quite yet finished solidifying. The windows behind him, which offered a far-from idyllic vista, was the only source of light. A source that slowly dimmed with every passing second. The fat gnome sighed deeply, causing a cloud of dust to stir in one of the beams that had managed to pass the red draperies that hung before the tall windows.
Sullee stared into the minuscule particles that slowly began to settle again, seeming to simply dissolve into thin air. Science probably would have an explanation for it, but he never had been the stereotypical gnome. Reluctantly, he slid his hand to one of his desk’s drawers and pulled it open in a slow motion that dripped of depression. He peered inside, not even caring to take the portrait of the two gnomish brothers from his drawer. “I guess I haven’t been able to live up to your expectations?..”
Staring at the picture, thinking back on how all of this had come to be, he suddenly reminisced reading one of Doreen’s books about determinism.
He slammed the drawer shut. His eyes scanned the surface of his large desk, for a moment he contemplated to finish the oysters he had shoved to the far end of his desk, but he was void of anything remotely close to an appetite.
Sinking back in his chair, he realised he had made yet another mistake... Why had he even thought of trusting Joseph. Of course he had been tricked into walking over to his side... He shrugged it off, adding the minor detail to the amassing heap of minor flaws that had led to this very moment. All that had to been done now, was die. He wouldn’t flee... He had fled before, and it had gotten him in this peculiar situation. He’d embrace death like the hero he wasn’t. The only thing that truly frightened him about death, after all, was the empty state his stomach would remain in for the last of his body’s years. Maybe he should’ve planned a cremation?...
One final time, he thought about everything he set in motion and of the consequences it would have. Even though he never had been a devious person, the thought of getting back at everyone who had ever lied to him did satisfy him. A damn shame he wouldn’t be able to watch it all unfold, but so be it.
He heard the footsteps in the alley below... The sound of a near-stampede was his cue. His cue to die. He opened a second drawer, at first not daring to look at what was in it.. but when he did, his already weak, fat-congested heart collapsed.

- Spoiler:
- This happens somewhere tomorrow. Rend, Rethal and some other folks will go to 'meet' Sullee and find his dead body in his office.
Thanks to TFC for having me as their guild master, but all good things must end! Even fat gnomes.

I can imagine those paintings will become collectors items, if not burnt first by the stampeding mob.

Re: End of an Era
First we chased away Greenbeard, and Zinkle hasn't been sighted in forever.
Then after a short period, we lost Ezlbag to the Dwarves.
Recently Coppersocket cut her connection to the Cartel.
Now we've lost Doreen to the Humans.
Finally, we lost Sullee to our own.
The Era of Gnome bosses has come to an end. But we're not all gone. One Gnome still stands, she may have one arm, she may be blind as a bat- but she lives on.
For Gnomeregan!

Although I've ever only roleplayed with Ezlbag, I've heard many great stories about these Gnomes! A real shame to be losing them.
